Zipp 202 Carbon Clincher Disc Brake Wheel Zipp 202 Carbon Clincher Disc Brake Wheel
ZIPP's famous for making some of the fastest wheels on the road, but it's taking things to the next level with the 202 Carbon Clincher Disc Brake wheel. To make the most of your speed, you have to harness serious stopping power, and ZIPP's done that by setting the 202 up to ridden with disc brakes, which increase modulation, respond immediately, and work in all conditions, so you can ride harder and with more confidence.Of course, for the brakes to matter you need to be able to hit high speeds in the first place. ZIPP redesigned the 202 with its Firecrest carbon-fiber technology, which decreases air resistance, increases stiffness, and boosts the 202's speed and stability on the descent. By widening the rim slightly, ZIPP increased traction and stability while decreasing rolling resistance, and used complex computer simulations to figure out that the added width is also beneficial for clincher-style wheels. The carbon is microscopically dimpled, like a golf ball, to reduce drag, and the shape of the 202 is designed to excel in real-world crosswinds, not just controlled laboratory conditions. If you're psyched about the increased convenience of a top-shelf clincher, you might also be worried about its smoothness, compared to a tubular wheel. Don't be. ZIPP fused an aluminum hoop to the carbon structure, which acts as a gentle spring to smooth out road vibration, and inserted a magical viscoelastic material between the carbon laminates to further smooth out your ride. Topping things off, ZIPP hooked the 202 up with ZIPP 88 and ZIPP 188/V9 front and rear hubs, respectively, and strung the wheels with Sapim X-Ray stainless steel spokes. Titanium skewers lock the wheels on to your dropouts, and Swiss Steel bearings keep you spinning smoothly for thousands and thousands of miles. The 202 is compatible with six-bolt disc brake rotors only--no rim brakes here--and is intended for riders weighing up to 250lbs.

Zipp 30 Road Wheel - Clincher Zipp 30 Road Wheel - Clincher
Zipp engineers built the 30 Road Clincher Wheels for demanding cyclists looking for everyday versatility. You'll get the speed, ride quality, and durability you need for road training or cyclocross races. Redesigned from the ground up, the 30s use Zipp's experience to create a more aerodynamic clincher wheelset. With features like parallel brake tracks for greater stopping power, Zipp manufactured these clinchers differently than their 101s--increasing stability, cornering grip, and ride comfort. A new hub design rests at the heart of the wheelset. Zipp used ultra-strong and lightweight 7075 T-6 aluminum for the shell and stainless-steel bearings to keep you spinning smoothly. No pre-load adjustment is required thanks to Zipp's Precision Set design. Laced with Sapim CX-Ray spokes, the 30s are ready for everything you can throw at them. Lightweight and aerodynamic, these stainless steel spokes are stiff enough for racing but still have a comfortable ride for training.

Zipp Super-9 Carbon Disc Wheel - Tubular Zipp Super-9 Carbon Disc Wheel - Tubular
The Super-9 Carbon Tubular Disc Wheel is lightweight, stiff, and marks Zipp's fastest wheel to date. The wheel features a similar perimeter shape as the super-fast Sub-9, but Zipp streamlines the Super-9 by making it flat from its widest point all the way to the hub. Not only does this make the Super-9 fast, but it's also stiffer than previous iterations. To eliminate drag, the Super-9 feature Zipp's Aerodynamic Boundary Layer Control (ABLC), which is a dimpling pattern that manages and smooths airflow across the surface. The Super-9 is equipped with a hub manufactured with high-voltage EDM technology, which allows Zipp to machine 50% harder materials. The Super-9 is available with Campagnolo and Shimano/SRAM 11-speed compatible freehubs, and it is also convertible to a track setup.

Zipp Super-9 Carbon Track Disc Wheel - Tubular Zipp Super-9 Carbon Track Disc Wheel - Tubular
The ride of tubulars is legend, and the Zipp Super-9 Carbon Track Disc Wheel is prepared to show you why. When combined with the smooth surface of a velodrome, you'll enjoy such a sure-footed, comfortable ride that, while you won't be in danger of falling asleep during your next six day, you'll also experience far less vibration-induced fatigue during long races. The Super-9 tub also drops almost 100 grams of weight compared to its clincher counterpart, meaning it spins up fast and won't hinder accelerations when you're trying to gain laps or respond to an attack. Comfort and low weight don't mean the wheels are soft, though. Zipp also incorporates Kevlar thread in their carbon layup, which catches and disperses shock from impacts up to 350% better than carbon alone. This benefit is especially pronounced in the tire bed, where the rim is in greatest danger of taking damage due to unexpected impacts like, say, the calamitous cat that almost took out Cavendish on the track in Ghent. While that comfort and durability stuff is certainly nothing to scoff at, you're ultimately here because of the aerodynamic benefits afforded by Zipp's wheels. The Super-9 carbon clincher still has a dimpling pattern that's specific to the 900, which helps smooth the air flow in order to minimize drag. Its Aerodynamic Boundary Layer Control (ABLC) carbon fiber skins are embossed with over 4900 golf ball-like dimples in five different sizes patterned to reduce turbulence. You get less drag in all wind angles, as well as less buffeting of the disc in crosswinds. The hub used is Zipp's durable track hub, with internals manufactured using a high-voltage wire EDM technology. This specialized manufacturing process, usually reserved for avionics and Formula One gearboxes, lets Zipp machine 50% harder materials at tolerances 20 times greater than standard machining and heat treating. The result is a sub-200g hub that can handle the torque of a four-cylinder car engine.
