2XU TR Compression Men's Bib Shorts If you need the absolute best that a powerhouse like 2XU has to offer, its new TR Compression Bib Shorts are what you've been looking for. We'll let the features speak for themselves. 2XU constructed the main body from its 105D/CK fabric. We know, we're not fans of titles filled with seemingly arbitrary numbers and letters, either. So, let's make some sense of this fabric. Basically, the '105D' stands for 105 denier. What's a denier' Simply put, a denier is a unit of measure for the weight of a fabric. Technically speaking, it measures a fabric's grams-per-9000-meters. And while a typical recovery compression piece features a material choice around 200 deniers and up, the bib shorts use a lighter, less constricting 105 denier fabric. This means that you still receive a focused, graduated compression, but the most direct gains are made through limiting muscle oscillation. So, whether you're getting slapped by wakes, getting rattled in the saddle, or pummeled by your pounding on the pavement, the 105D/CK fabric provides an enhanced level of muscle support that will minimize fatigue. And on the subject of fatigue, we'll jump into the main draw of the bib shorts, their compressive qualities. You hear the term 'compression' thrown out there often. However, its true meaning, especially for race-day applications, is typically shrouded in ubiquity. So, forget what you've heard about lactic acid suppression, and enter into the world of enhanced blood circulation. Without getting too scientific, 2XU designed the bib shorts to have different strengths of compression in accordance to a position's distance from the heart. So, the further from the heart, the stronger the fabric compression, and the closer to the heart, the lower the compression. Basically, this design places a pressure on the veins and arteries that forces the circulatory system to work faster.

Capo Ceramica Bib Shorts If you've looked at bib shorts lately, chances are that you've noticed many companies are moving away from standard Lycra blends as their dominant fabric of choice. Instead, designers are listening to feedback from professional riders while, simultaneously, creating new fabrics that work better than the traditional fare. By better, we mean that these advanced materials provide the necessary moisture wicking and breathable qualities that we've come to expect from our shorts, only now, they provide increased muscle support. We're thankful for this, as bib shorts like the Capo Ceramica have incorporated some its latest fabric technologies into an all-new design that keeps us more supported and comfortable than ever before. For the construction of the Ceramica bib shorts, Capo used its new Ceramica Lycra, HG Lycra, and V-Mesh 360. New for 2013, the Ceramica fabric, as the name implies, is actually made with natural clay-based yarns. Testing showed Capo that, by implementing this material into its fabrics, increased circulation and temperature regulation could be achieved over previous Lycra iterations. You'll notice the distinct honeycomb appearance of this fabric, which, in addition to providing exceptional moisture transfer from the skin to the material's outer layer, is also extremely durable. This characteristic comes as a much-welcomed side effect of compressive fabrics. And because the Ceramica is a tight-knit, 36-gauge material used to securely hold your muscles in place, the fabric also yields a dense feel with a heightened level of durability. Capo targeted abrasion-prone inner-thigh and saddle panels with this material specifically for this reason. Side leg panels received Capo's high-gauge (HG) Lycra. This is also a highly compressive material that is abrasion-resistant. The HG was treated with Coldblack technology, a finish that doesn't wash out and is also able to dissipate heat better than other stretch fabrics.

Capo Drago Bib Shorts - Men's There is very little about the Capo Drago Bib Shorts that is subtle. They have a racy, 'painted-on' fit, and menacing, red piping down the back that screams of villainous science-fiction intent. But a deeper glance at the Drago reveals a highly technical garment that stands to easily rival what could be considered the best shorts from Giordana or Assos. In creating a bib short that defied convention, Capo had to completely re-think their design and production processes from the ground up. The goal was to create a garment of superior quality, comfort, performance, and protection, therefore run-of-the-mill polyester or pedestrian blends of Lycra would not be good enough. Thus, the Advanced Technology System (or 'ATS') was born. The idea behind ATS was simple: Capo would create their next generation of ride-enhancing cycling garments by combining the most technical Swiss and Italian fabrics they could find with the most advanced production methods available. You could think of ATS as a bit of Italian mad science; a highly polished experiment in conceptual performance textiles, not unlike the exotic supercars that might grace the show floors of the Geneva Motor Show. Except these exceptional bib shorts go beyond existence as a concept, and are available to the discerning public.Conventional bib shorts might be constructed from a singular Lycra blend with weaves varying anywhere from 15 to 30 gauge (traditionally recognized as a 'high gauge' Lycra). To scale, a medical-grade compression garment might use a 70 gauge Lycra. Striking a perfect balance between the two are the Drago Bib Shorts, which are sewn from a Swiss-made, 50 gauge Lycra whose dense weave ensures that supportive and compressive fit, without being too restrictive. The side panels of the short are reinforced with a unique antimicrobial carbon fiber threading that expedites dry time, and serves to re-illustrate that Capo has spared no expense in the engineering of the Drago.

Capo GS-13 Bib Shorts Capo's all new GS-13 Bib Shorts borrow many of the defining fit and style cues from its best-selling SC-12 model, only with several new fabrics and a revamped, more supportive strap system. The GS-13 (short for Gruppo Sportivo) is the latest step toward blending comfort, compressive support, and streamlined race fit into a single pair of bib shorts. Capo constructed the shorts' contoured top and inner leg panels using its high-gauge (HG) Lycra. The material's dense, three-dimensional design gives it more muscle support than standard Lycra blends, as well as abrasion resistance for durability in the high-friction inner thigh zone. Moving to the outer leg panels, Capo incorporates its lightweight microfiber Carbon E fabric for its high breathability and wicking properties. The leg openings receive a wide, single layer of silicone-taped Carbon ES fabric that gives you a gentle but secure hold without the bulkiness of any excess material. This simple, understated single-layer hem detail provides more comfort and breathability when compared to many overly-restrictive cuff designs currently out on the market. For 2013, Capo introduces its bib strap harnessing technology. This is a two-part strap system that combines Capo's fine-gauge microfiber Eyelet Mesh with its HG Lycra. Used in the straps' lower half due to its highly breathable and vertically elastic properties, the Eyelet Mesh is designed with a textured surface that stays raised off of your skin, speeding evaporation and keeping you cool and dry. The Eyelet Mesh is bonded to the laser-cut HG Lycra upper straps. This creates a vertically stable system that stays securely in place along your shoulders throughout your ride. The GS-13's chamois is Capo's Anatomic 4G Carbon Elastic Interface Technology (EIT) Insert. Its high-density, open-cell foam is bonded to an antimicrobial microfiber layer that has carbon fiber threads woven through it to speed moisture evaporation.

Capo Modena Bib Shorts The Capo lineup changes slightly from season to season, but the venerable Modena Bib Shorts are too classic to be replaced. The subtle double-striped logo on the left leg band is simple and, dare we say it, looks fast -- hearkening back to Italy's Modena Autodrome and the daredevil racers of yesteryear. Throwback or not, racing stripes are never out of vogue, which is probably why the Modena kit has cemented itself in the Capo catalog. Of course, what is style without function' The Modena bib shorts use Lycra Power with panels that wrap around your quads. This slightly compressive construction supports your muscles and lessens vibration so that they stay fresher for longer. Essentially, this will make the difference between suffering or sprinting at the end of a long, hard day in the saddle. The seven panels, three per leg with a single panel across the lower back, not only look clutter-free, but also result in a reduction of seams and lessening of friction. Additionally, the bib upper uses Capo V-Mesh for its comfort, breathability, and light weight. The chamois in the Modena is the Anatomic L HD Carbon EIT Insert. Although it's a streamlined pad, relative to what you find in other Capo shorts, it shares much of the same technological features with the top-end models. Its open-cell foam is bonded to a soft, antimicrobial microfiber layer that has carbon fiber threads woven in to expedite moisture evaporation. A perineal channel for pressure relief runs front to rear between raised pads in the chamois. And, as with all EIT pads, this one is shaped as it's molded. This means that it's designed to curve around your body rather than sit flat. The Capo Modena Bib Shorts are available in the colors Black and Navy and in five sizes from Small to XX-Large.

Capo Padrone Bib Shorts - Men's Since the Padrone Short Sleeve Jersey represents Capo's best efforts at fit and comfort to date, the only way to have matching bib shorts was to push their design to new levels to match it. The Padrone Bib Shorts are that next level. The fit has been refined from their super corsa paneling design. There are ten panels in the shorts rather than eight, with flat lock seams holding them all together. The seams running down the front of the legs have an even greater curve than you're used to seeing. The reason for this is that the curved panels here are designed to reduce the potential for gapping and bunching of fabric to nearly zero. They've also split the side panels in two to create a better fit than ever before. As Capo found success in using several kinds of stretch fabric in their Padrone Jersey, they've continued this trend with the shorts. The center and inside panels are made of HG Lycra. This is a highly compressive spandex that is very abrasion resistant. The HG has also been treated with Coldblack as part of the dyeing process. This is a treatment that won't wash out. The magic of Coldblack is that it is able to dissipate heat better than other stretch fabrics by reflecting the sun's rays off the Lycra rather than absorbing it, which means you'll feel cooler and perform better as your body heats up. The side panels are Carbon Lycra, a high-compression Power Lycra featuring carbon threads for anti-bacterial properties. The leg bands, which replace grippers, are made of Capo's Dual-Ply Power V material, with Power Lycra on the outside and V-Mesh on the inside. The Power part adds compression and the mesh gives you wicking potential. The bibs have also gone for some improvements. They've bonded their traditional V-Mesh bib fabric with 190g Lycra for better-controlled vertical stretch. While it might be hard to see in the images, there are actually cutouts on the inside to minimize the feeling that you're wearing bibs.

Capo Piancavallo Bib Shorts Situated high in the Apennines sits the notorious Piancavallo ascent. Just shy of 14 kilometers, and with an average gradient around eight percent, the Piancavallo has proven itself as a battle ground of the Giro -- most notably for the epic battle between Pantani and Tonkov in '98. Suitably, the Italian-centric Capo has devoted a 'collezione' based on this storied parcours, with the first piece being the Competitive Cyclist-exclusive Piancavallo Bib Shorts. Capo designed the Piancavallo bib shorts around the venerable Power Lycra fabric. This patented material expresses measurable results within the fields of muscle fatigue and proprioception. Basically, its moderate denier creates a focused support for your muscle groups. So, when you're confronted by road vibration, the hold of Power Lycra minimizes the muscles' oscillation. In this sense, a root cause of fatigue is limited. However, this system of muscle control also aids proprioception by increasing the efficiency and accuracy of your muscles' movements. And taking a step even further, this has a moderate impact on the central nervous system's ability to translate feedback between the muscles and the brain. Capo also aided the fabric with a more traditional sense of compressive quality through the addition of 8cm compression leg bands. This feature contributes to a slight graduated compression for a moderate promotion of blood circulation. And not to be upstaged by tinfoil metrics, Power Lycra also reflects a powerful moisture management capability. Essentially, the fabric's composition allows ample surface coverage. So, when you start to perspire, the Power Lycra accelerates the transfer of moisture to its quick-drying surface. And when the heat is pouring down, this attribute guarantees an evenhanded approach to thermo-regulation. In fact, this is further accentuated through the Piancavallo's use of full mesh uppers. Just as importantly as Power Lycra's attributes are its characteristics of fit.

Capo Pursuit Bib Short - Men's The Pursuit kit occupies the top of Capo's Corsa range. Corsa is a series of shorts and jerseys that use Italian-sourced fabrics to offer club ride-ready comfort, but with the performance you would expect from the technical style savants at Capo. The Pursuit Bib Shorts follow the contoured construction seen in Capo's top-shelf shorts while simplifying things a bit. There are eight panels rather than ten (or more), with three around and one wrapping the bottom of each leg. The bib suspenders are a more traditional lightweight and breathable mesh. The legs are constructed from a high-gauge (HG) Lycra. The material feels dense and three-dimensional in the hand. This feature gives it muscle compression for greater comfort, abrasion resistance for durability, and moisture-transfer so you won't feel like you're bathing in perspiration on hot days. The cuffs are treated with a traditional silicone bead to keep them in place while you ride. The chamois is Capo's Anatomic-L HD Carbon Elastic Interface Technology (EIT) Insert. They use high-density open-cell foam bonded to an anti-microbial micro-fiber layer that has antimicrobial carbon fiber threads woven through it to aid in moisture evaporation. In addition to the slim, movement-freeing shape, there are 6mm and 8mm-thick pads built into the pre-curved profile to optimize support on longer rides. The Capo Pursuit Bib Shorts are made in Canada. They come in Black, and sizes run from Small to XX-Large.

Capo Pursuit Roubaix Bib Shorts Every year, we hit that odd fork in the road between full bib tights and bib shorts. And while knee warmers are great, they only cover our knees. Typically, the only other solution is to wear tights over our bib shorts, but that just brings us right back to square one. Thankfully, Capo figured out the missing link with its Pursuit Roubaix Bib Shorts. By combining Capo's renowned fit with a warming, comfortable fabric, the Pursuit Roubaix bib shorts effectively bridge the gap between seasons. For the construction of the Pursuit Roubaix bib shorts, Capo used Thermo Roubaix Tech fabric. This material features a high interior loft that assists in the moisture management duties of the shorts, while its hollow-core microfiber composition breathes heavily to maintain a consistent level of thermo-regulation. Additionally, Capo incorporated what it calls a top knit construction to reduce fabric and seam abrasion. And while materials are important, Capo knows that fit is paramount to the quality of bib shorts. So, it used a multi-panel approach for the design of the Pursuit. The panels are shaped on a curve in order to follow the natural contours of your body. However, the stitching and seams remain minimal throughout the bib shorts. This creates a heightened level flexibility and adaptability to your movements in the saddle. Ultimately, the fit follows you, not the other way around. For the chamois, Capo went with the illustrious Elastic Interface Technology (EIT) Anatomic-L HD Carbon insert. This chamois uses a variable density throughout to support the regions that need the most support, without impacting the ones that don't. The support focus is primarily placed at the perineal, ischial, and gluteal areas -- the points most prone to distress from saddle pressure and compression. With its anatomic design, the L HD creates an abrasion-free support that promotes an increased circulation by protecting nerves like the pudendal.

Capo SC-12 Bib Shorts - Men's Capo has divided their entire line of kits into three categories: Corsa, Super Corsa, and the top-shelf ATS line. The best-selling SC-12 (short for "Super Corsa 2012") kit rests squarely in the Super Corsa category, as this series offers an intelligent blend of Capo's best fabrics, and most proven fit and construction. The Super Corsa line is also delineated by its significantly streamlined race fit, optimized for longer arms, shorter torsos, and an overall more aggressive riding position. The SC-12 Bib Shorts are more than just a middle-of-the-road short; they represent some of the best technology that Capo has to offer, and in a styling that is every bit as classic as it is race-ready. And who can deny the allure of proudly flying the Italian flag as you triumphantly crest your local climbs' The SC-12 Bib Shorts follow the contoured construction seen in Capo's top-shelf ATS shorts while simplifying things a bit. There are eight panels rather than ten (or more), three around and one wrapping the bottom of each leg. The bib suspenders are a more traditional lightweight and breathable mesh. This feature gives it muscle compression for greater comfort, abrasion resistance for durability, and moisture-transfer so you won't feel like you're bathing in perspiration on hot days. Rather than use a traditional gripper on the leg cuff, the SC-12 utilizes a wide, doubled-over layer of laser-cut HG Lycra with a light silicone treatment to the underside. It's the same careful hem detail that Capo uses on their top-tier Volta and Drago kits. The generous width of the band makes the grip gentle, while the two layers limit stretch and thus hold onto your legs no matter how much they move. The chamois is Capo's Anatomic-DP Carbon Elastic Interface Technology (EIT) Insert.

Capo Serie A Bib Shorts - Men's Like the venerable Modena kit, the Capo Serie A Bib Shorts are part of a quintessentially classic summer collection for your club rides, brutal training days, or just those slower-paced, savory outings with your significant other. True to Classic Capo style, the Serie A are part of their own kit, but would perfectly match up with both the Modena or Pursuit lines to expand the possible combinations of a carefully coordinated and rotating collection of kits -- may we recommend having one for every training day during the week' The Serie A Bib Shorts use Power Lycra with panels that wrap around the quads. This gives a subtle degree of compression that will help keep your muscles fresher for longer. These are seven-panel shorts: three per leg, with a panel across the lower back. The bib harness uses Capo's lightweight V-Mesh, which provides a no-fuss level of comfort and breathability. The chamois in the Serie A is Capo's Anatomic L HD Carbon EIT Insert. This is a simple pad relative to what you find in other Capo shorts, but it's pretty sophisticated when you compare it what we used to think of as a regular chamois. First of all, it stretches -- which is not a big deal, unless you know that many pads don't stretch. It is open-cell foam bonded to a soft, anti-microbial micro-fiber layer that has carbon fiber threads woven in to expedite moisture evaporation. A perineal channel for pressure relief runs front to rear between raised pads in the chamois. And, as with all EIT pads, this one is shaped as it's being molded; it's designed to curve around your body, not sit flat in a box.The Capo Serie A Bib Shorts are available in Black with white accents. Capo Volta Bib Shorts In a sense, the Capo Padrone kit was an experiment of sorts. It was a bold statement that was fundamentally shaped around its innovative fabric stories and unique construction, without being dependent on overwrought graphical prowess. With the ATS Volta Bib Shorts, Capo spurred that creativity to the next level. They poured on an unabashed dose of racy Italian styling and pulled out all the stops to source the absolute best fabrics and advanced manufacturing techniques in creating an emphatic foray into the market of truly top-tier bib shorts. This ensures a fit that actively supports critical muscles, without delving too deep into compressive territory. Capo has also engineered a new and super comfortable harness-style bib upper exclusively for both the Volta and its big brother, the Drago.

Castelli Body Paint 2.0 Bib Shorts When most of us hear the words 'body paint,' we think of Mardi Gras or wild Vegas shows. But that certainly is not what Castelli had in mind when it coined the phrase to describe this line of high-quality cycling wear. The Castelli Body Paint 2.0 Bib Shorts will fit so well that you'll feel like -- you guessed it -- they have been painted on you. The result are bib shorts that Castelli is proudly calling its fastest and most comfortable shorts ever. The shorts on the Body Paint Bib Shorts are formed from a single piece of seamless fabric for a naturally supportive fit. The short feels like it is hugging you perfectly in any position, thanks to this anatomic fit and the as well as a highly compressive fabric. This smooth fit, combined with the aero dimples employed in the material, make this is the most aerodynamic bib short on the market. Castelli engineered the dimples into the fabric to induce flow separation and reduce aerodynamic drag. Think of it as the clothing equivalent for the Zipp rim dimples. Virtually no seams also means that there are fewer places to irritate your body and there are fewer opportunities for a wardrobe malfunction to occur. After all, who hasn't experienced a perfectly good pair of shorts coming apart at the seams' The upper portion of the bibs is made from the special Giro2 Bib Straps, a single strip of Giro fabric that is very soft and stretchy. Castelli has eliminated the Lycra trim that typically edges bib straps and more often than not cuts into your shoulders to cause discomfort. The new mesh on the back will help keep your torso cool by allowing air to circulate. Likewise, the updated Giro3 integrated leg grippers have been intelligently fashioned so that the grip material has been knit directly into the short. The generous 5 cm wide band gently compresses to secure the leg hem in place. It also lies completely flat, keeping your leg as aero as if it were in a skin suit.

Castelli Body Paint 2.0 Limited Edition Bib Shorts If you were to catalog the riding apparel choices here at the office, overwhelmingly, you would tally Castelli's Body Paint 2.0 over any other pair of bib shorts. That's why we teamed up with Castelli to make two exclusive color options with the Body Paint 2.0 Limited Edition Bib Shorts. Now, we're combining our love for quality bib shorts, bright fluo, and Italian cycling and sharing it with you. Get 'em while you can. Castelli's Body Paint 2.0 is a moving revolution that was fast enough for Castelli to patent the design. It feels as it sounds, like a barely-there skin layer that's been painted on. However, this isn't a byproduct of design, but the intent itself. In fact, every aspect of the design works to make the fit as precise as possible. This way, by eliminating fabric bunching and pulling, airflow passes over the shorts more freely. Integral in this concept is the fabric selection itself, in this case a lightweight Lycra that can only be described as soft. Furthering this attribute is the bib shorts' nearly seamless construction. The legs feature a one piece design that flows continuously to the upper regions of the shorts. Essentially, this keeps the intended shape of the bib shorts intact, and be doing so, reduces your aerodynamic footprint in the saddle. But, what is the intended shape' Well, the answer is both simple and complex. In its most simplistic form, the answer is to go fast, but to deal with its complexity charts over the course of years. In fact, over the past year, Castelli has worked extensively with Team Garmin-Barracuda in order to absorb rider-feedback, tunnel test, and to achieve real world race experience. As a result, the cut, shape, and elasticity of the bib shorts have been scientifically and methodically dialed-in. This brings us to the shorts' aerodynamic benefits. It all comes down to managing airflow, and coincidentally, the human body accounts for over 90% of aerodynamic drag on the bike.

Castelli Body Paint 2.0 Long Sleeve Speed Suit Outfitting one of the best teams in cycling takes more than shipping labels and boxes. Luckily, though, the team was outfitted in the Castelli Body Paint 2.0 Long Sleeve Speed Suit and won the Verona course. Again, the Speed Suit was tested on the last real day of racing by Ryder Hesjedal. Only 16 seconds separated him taking the pink jersey, and not surprisingly, he overcame the time gap and clinched victory. Castelli Cross Sanremo Speedsuit The turning of leaves ushers in a different race season. Cyclocross. A season that revolves around muddy courses, barriers, cow bells, stroopwafels, and an hour in the pain cave. Castelli introduced the Cross Sanremo Speedsuit to keep you looking and feeling good as you race through muddy courses with the sounds of cowbells and drunken spectators ringing in your ears. The Cross Sanremo takes inspiration from the Pro Tour-tested Sanremo Speedsuit, and adds more features for cold weather and cyclocross racing. The Cross Sanremo Speedsuit has unique construction for a speedsuit and is designed specifically for cyclocross. From the back it has the classic, one-piece look to keep cold air and mud from finding their way up your back. But from the front, it appears to be two separate pieces. This unique design gives you better ventilation in the jersey and the feeling of wearing bibs, without nature-break hassles. The shorts are made from a single piece of Action 290 fabric for durability and stretch. The single piece of fabric used to construct these shorts means fewer seams to give you the same fit as the Castelli Body Paint shorts, and eliminates chafing where common seams typically rub. Giro 3 single-layer, sublimation-printed leg endings finish off the shorts. The sublimation-printed leg doesn't use thick silicon gripper around the leg ending. Instead, the gripper is woven into the fabric so when it is stretched around your leg, it grips. The jersey portion of the Cross Sanremo is Thermoflex fleece with a long front. A cold weather riding fabric, Thermoflex has a fleecy, polyester core that traps a layer of warm air next to your skin. This fabric offers better warmth and wicking properties than traditional fabrics, so you don't have to worry about getting cold during a race. Nervato fabric inserts under the arms provide ventilation during your hour-long Tour de Threshold. The super stretchy construction of these inserts also adds to your flexibility.

Castelli Endurance Bib Shorts Ernest Shackleton led his infamous trip to Antarctica aboard a boat he re-named the Endurance after his family motto: Fortitudine Vincimus (by endurance we conquer). A painfully apt name as Shackleton and his crew survived twenty months at the bottom of the world, an endurance feat we never want to get near. Endurance is also an apt name for these Castelli Bib Shorts, as they're made to survive epic bike rides.Castelli makes no secret of their design ideas when it comes to shorts. Start with the chamois and build from there. These share many design traits with the top-shelf Free Aero Bib Shorts without sticking you with the same kind of price tag. The pad you sit on is Castelli's Progetto X2 chamois. It's a three-layer stretch pad. The top layer is soft and seamless bacteriostatic polyester fabric that wicks moisture away from your body. Underneath the top layer is a perforated viscous comfort pad located directly under the sit bones and the perineum to neutralize those high-pressure areas. The final layer has variable thicknesses. It's micro-thin at the edges and increases in thickness en route to the thickest area, under your ischial tuberosities. The legs have Giro++ grippers, just like the Free Aero Shorts. Pronounced "Giro Two" in Italy, or "Giro Due," this is a single-layer gripper that integrates gripping material into the fabric as the shorts are being made, so you can barely feel them even though they hold firmly. This technology is pretty cool; they've taken 43% Lycra content fibers and stitched them inside PowerLycra, which is 24-28% Lycra. As you stretch the material, the 43% fibers start to appear on the inside. Giro++ grippers are soft and rubbery and grip great. The body of the shorts have been simplified. They use an eight panel design to wrap around your body. The front and rear panels are made from Action PowerLycra, which is highly abrasion resistant. The side panels are made of Energia LycraPower.

Castelli Free Aero Kit Version Race Bib Short - Men's The Free Aero Race Bib Shorts are one of Castelli's top summer bib shorts, and have been tweaked and changed based on the feedback from pro cyclists. Though we may not get paid to ride our bikes every day, we know the improved fabrics, panel design, chamois, and bibs make a big difference on a training ride and in a stage race. The Free Aero Kit Version Race Bib Short is made to match up perfectly with the Castelli Free Jersey. The beauty and effectiveness of the Free Aero Race Bib Shorts comes from the targeted use of three main fabrics. First, Castelli developed what they call an Action Micro fabric that is particularly durable and placed it in the saddle contact regions, since those are the areas that get the most regular wear and tear. Energia Micro fabric is used on the sides and back of the bib shorts to take advantage of its outstanding stretch and return. The Breathe Micro fabric is used for the front of the shorts because, as its name indicates, it has been designed to let the fabric breathe to help keep the legs from overheating when the sun is beating down on a hot day. Perhaps nothing in these bib shorts has benefited as much from Castelli's association with professional cycling teams as the Progetto X2 Air Seat Pad. The Garmin-Cervelo team spent a year testing this short; that's a lot of saddle time to be thinking about how comfort could be improved. Since Castelli had it pretty right to begin with, there wasn't much more than tweaking going on. What it has done is add a perforated foam layer to the pad to help ventilate and keep the nether regions cooler by allowing air to flow directly onto the surface fabric. That layer sitting next to your skin is made from a four-way stretch, seamless, bacteriostatic layer designed to move with you, reducing any bunching and friction. The cushioning layer consists of strategically placed, multi-density foam.

Castelli Inferno Bib Shorts As we're sure that you know, we love to dig into every detail of cycling apparel, especially the fabrics. However, when something is as fresh, new, and innovative as the Castelli Inferno Bib Shorts, we understand that trade secrets will not be divulged. Instead, we're forced to put the nameless under the microscope and investigate how the fabrics work as a system. So, like a great musician, we've come to appreciate, and even rely on, the Inferno as a body of work, not a collection of hit singles. The reasons for this are stacking. Of the seven fabrics used throughout the Inferno, five them are only found on this one piece. That's right, Castelli developed and engineered five distinct materials for the shorts portion alone. So, the question begs to be asked, for what purpose' Well, as the name implies, the Inferno was created as a counter-offensive to treacherous heat. And along these lines, you'll immediately notice what appear to be mesh panels along the sides of the legs. Note that we said 'appears' in this instance. This is worth noting, as this is no ordinary mesh. Instead, Castelli developed this material as a perforated panel of 94% polyester. As a result, breathability is increased throughout the shorts, and due to its composition, moisture absorption is reduced to nearly nano levels. Additionally, in comparison to mesh, this fabric shields the skin from exposure, meaning that you don't appear half naked on the bike. However, if your mind thinks like ours, support to the muscles becomes an immediate concern when viewing such a lightweight, breathable panel. Well, there's no need to fret, as Castelli designed this material with a fiber weight that lends itself to both flexibility and support. In fact, this trend is carried out throughout the rest of the shorts, as well. Truly, this is where the Inferno separates itself from anything else on the market. Typically, bib shorts are either supportive or breathable -- you get one or the other.

Castelli Kask Aero Race Bib Shorts While every pair of bib shorts have to start at the same level, not every pair have to end at the same point. Not surprisingly, the same principle is shared with the Tour-winning Kask helmets. That's why it's only fitting that both prime examples are represented with the Castelli Kask Aero Race Bib Shorts. Castelli knows that one doesn't create a top-voted pair of bib shorts by simply stitching some Lycra together and calling it a day. Instead, the Free Aero Race bib shorts have been tweaked since 2007 and they've also been pro-team-tested for four straight years. Believe us, the result shines through -- blindingly. For the construction, this iteration uses three different forms of Lycra, each at strategic points throughout the bib shorts. Starting at the side, front, and rear panels, Castelli placed its Shield Micro fabric. This form of LycraPower has a horizontal stretch with a responsive return. What does this mean' Simply put, the material is capable of stretching in order to match your movements. However, when your leg returns to the un-flexed position, the fabric immediately returns to position. This provides a constant support to the hamstrings and glutes, resulting in more compression, and thus less detriment from road vibration. The fabric's open weave design also aids in cooling the skin, but when coupled with a high wicking ability, it pulls and evaporates moisture at an alarming rate. Additionally, Castelli gave the material a ribbed knit surface to aid in aerodynamic air flow over the legs. For durability, Castelli placed its Action Micro fabric at the saddle contact point. As its name suggests, this material is ready for action, just not at the expense of comfort. Made from a 210 gram microdenier PowerLycra, Action is extremely abrasion resistant on the exterior, yet it offers a soft, second-skin feel on the interior. All together, the fabric selection directly results in the Free Aero Race's feathery, 195 gram weight.

Castelli Nanoflex Bib Shorts You simply can't beat the feeling of quality bib shorts. Unfortunately, they usually aren't practical to wear year round. However, Castelli has changed this with its Nanoflex Bib Shorts. With a fleecy lining and a water-resistant exterior, the Nanoflex Bib Shorts answer the call of the winter with resounding vigor. Castelli's Nanoflex Bib Shorts are made from the exclusive Nanoflex fabric. Nanoflex is a water-resistant version of Castelli's ultra-warming Thermoflex fabric. The transformation process occurs when the Thermoflex fabric is coated with millions of nanofilaments to create a water-repellant surface. Water beads and slides when it comes in contact with Nanoflex, and, all the while, the Nanoflex Bib Shorts retain their warmth and wind-blocking prowess. Besides protecting you from rain and snow, the Nanoflex Bib Shorts give you the benefit of having lightweight, stretchy shorts that warm like a light jacket on your legs, and fit like you're off to the races. The Nanoflex also features a fleecy inner-lining that traps a layer of warm air on your skin while it wicks away moisture to the quick-drying Nanoflex surface. This process provides consistent warmth and dryness that you'll appreciate when it's in the 40s. The Nanoflex adds extra comfort by incorporating breathable mesh bib straps and the Kiss 3 pad. The Kiss chamois uses a seamless construction of brushed microfiber to avoid any chafing, and the pad is anatomically shaped to help follow your movements. The Kiss 3 also features a variable density design with more padding where you need it, and less where you don't. For winter use, we recommend covering up all of that exposed surface area with Castelli knee or leg warmers. The Castelli Nanoflex Bib Shorts are available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large and in the color Black.

Castelli Presto Due Bib Short - Men's The Castelli Presto Due Bib Short offers breathability, moisture management, slight compression, and Castelli's bacteriostatic chamois pad, the KISS3, all for less than a decent helmet, a low-end jersey, or a pair of bargain cycling shoes. For the construction, Castelli made the Presto Due from its Affinity Lycra fabric. This material features the hold and support that we know from Lycra, however, Affinity provides more stretch and elasticity than many other Lycra iterations. You'll also find that the material is incredibly light and soft: 190 gram fabric weight, actually. This converts to around 140 denier, which, in the real world, translates to a slightly compressive fit and high thread count per centimeter. So, this means that your muscles will be protected from the fatigue-causing effects of road vibration and oscillation. But, why is the high thread count important' In a word, abrasion. By compacting the threads, Affinity becomes less course, lighter weight, and more gentle on the skin. Additionally, the fabric has been designed to be an effective moisture manager. So, during long, hard exertions, Affinity will pull moisture from the skin and transport it to the material's quick-drying surface.the bib portion was also designed with hot-weather cycling in mind. Castelli used highly breathable synthetic open mesh to provide fit, structure, and security without hindering breathability or moisture management. In terms of fit, Castelli designed the Presto Due bib shorts around the cycling position. Essentially, this means that the multi-paneled pattern has been cut on a contour, you'll notice this when the shorts are hanging. So, the shorts' anatomic design allows for a full-range of movement without the risk of fabric pinching, bunching, or chafing. The bib follows this design concept, as well, with a fit designed for the crouched pedal position. And extending the Presto's range of comfort, Castelli included its venerable KISS3 chamois.

Castelli Sanremo 2.0 Speed Suit - Men's If you're like us, you value the aerodynamic edge of your skinsuit in the time trial, but no matter how often you try to will yourself, you just can't wear it for training or stage racing. Well, times are changing and watts are saved like never before with the latest Castelli invention, the San Remo Speedsuit. It's so fast that Castelli patented it. The San Remo Speedsuit is the result of Castelli combining the most aerodynamic, breathable, and lightweight garments in their line into one piece of wearable technology. Designed for every cycling application from the Pyrenees to the time trial, the San Remo Speedsuit has shattered the mold of aerodynamic garment design. The Castelli Speedsuit's revolutionary design was achieved by a precise combination of fabrics, and an outside-the-box approach to aerodynamics. The Speedsuit idea started with Castelli re-envisioning the application of a skinsuit. While offering superior aerodynamic performance, the lack of pockets and the inability for nature breaks make the skinsuit notoriously impractical for daily riding or road racing. The solution was clear, combine the two fastest, lightweight garments in the Castelli closet, and make them into one cohesive piece that's more aerodynamic as a whole than separate. So, Castelli made the lower portion from the nearly seamless Body Paint shorts, and used the Aero Race jersey for the upper. Body Paint feels as it sounds, like a barely-there skin layer that minimizes your aerodynamic footprint. It's Castelli's most lightweight and quick-drying lower fabric, and features a slight dimpling on the legs to create an aerodynamic boundary layer (think of a golf ball). The Aero Race upper is Castelli's top-shelf race jersey, and is so aero that it's claimed to save 12 watts at 40km/h over a normal, high-end jersey. The upper features a silicone printing on the side panels to further induce turbulence, and thus shave more time and precious watts from your ride.

CEP Dynamic+ Bib Shorts In the pursuit of compression, we've had our wallets sapped our fair share of times. Yes, even we've succumbed to the false promises of compressive salvation. However, we've never given up hope in the concept, and thankfully, neither has the German-based CEP. With its Dynamic+ Bib Shorts, CEP actually provides graduated, medical-grade compression that will stabilize your muscles and joints, improve your blood circulation, and increase your stamina. Basically, these bib shorts are everything that we've been seeking, and then a little bit more. And on the subject of fatigue, we'll jump into the main draw of the Dynamic+ bib shorts, their compressive qualities. You hear the term 'compression' thrown out there often. However, its true meaning, especially for race-day applications, is typically shrouded in ubiquity. So, forget what you've heard about lactic acid suppression, and enter into the world of enhanced blood circulation. Without getting too scientific, CEP designed the Dynamic+ shorts-section to have different strengths of compression in accordance to a position's distance from the heart. This is also known as graduated compression. So, the further from the heart, the stronger the fabric compression, and the closer to the heart, the lower the compression. Basically, this design places a pressure on the veins and arteries that forces the circulatory system to work faster. Accordingly, your muscles receive more oxygen, and thus muscle fatigue is thoroughly reduced. Meanwhile, power outputs and thresholds are increased. Not surprisingly, while the aforementioned attributes would be enough for most to call it a day, CEP was just getting started. For the actual fit of the Dynamic+ bib shorts, CEP approached the cut with an anatomic, multi-paneled, and contoured designed. This means that the panels are meant to support specific muscle groups, while the shape perfectly conforms to the body throughout the various motions of a cycling.

Craft RadioShack Nissan Trek Elite Bib Short - Men's With the exclusive branding of a top tour team, the Craft RadioShack Nissan Trek Elite Bib Short packs many of the design features that make them a preferred choice of some of the best riders in the world. But, the best part is they'll save you a good chunk of change over their pricier counterparts so you can upgrade the rest of your kit, too. The upper bibs are made of an ultra-light polyester mesh with hexa-channel fibers to increase the external surface area, providing additional space for moisture to evaporate. The shorts are made of polyamide and elastane, giving them a light weight, great moisture management, and the muscle compression you need to withstand brutal efforts and road vibrations that seek to drain your power. Smooth, flatlock seams ensure that you won't experience chafing over long rides. Taped, elastic leg endings keep the shorts in place. Craft improved their entire line of pads for 2012, and the chamois found in the Elite Bib Shorts has been completely revamped. It has a refined anatomic cut and features high-density foam with exploded bubbles that allow greater airflow. No film or chemical addition is used when combining the layers of the pad, which also enhances breathability. Gel injections in the sensitive sit-bone and perineal areas dampen harsh road vibrations. Rather than using a 'one size fits all' approach, Craft tailors the Elite chamois in three different sizes and densities; the X-Small/Small bib shorts get the smallest and least dense pad, the Medium/Large shorts get a slightly larger and denser chamois, and the X-Large/XX-Large shorts get the largest and densest pad. The Craft RadioShack Nissan Trek Elite Bib Short comes in sizes X-Small through XX-Large.

De Marchi C+ Bib Shorts De Marchi's Contour Plus Bib Shorts created a name for themselves with their dependable structure and long-distance comfort. In fact, these bib shorts are De Marchi's most popular due to a smart design that works to support the body for hours on end. For 2013, the shorts have been redefined with even more support features being made possible through a new paneling design and revamped chamois technology. And, like all De Marchi products, the Contour Plus bib shorts are handmade in Italy using Italian materials. It's something we still enjoy seeing every time we look inside the shorts and see the label, reminding us of the heritage that comes with the De Marchi name. The C+ bib shorts were constructed using six panels of the Pro-grade, Extra Stretch Lycra fabric. This dense material incorporates a high elastane content in order to deliver a firm compressive fit around key muscle zones. Gel prints were added to these panels as to reinforce the fabric, serving to further 'anchor' the material from shifting as you ride. The quads and glutes were targeted with a generous amount of compressive support, while the areas around the inner thighs, saddle area, and cuffs have more of a gentle hold. What this gradual hold means is that you'll be comfortable during the beginning, middle, and end of a four-hour ride, as compressive fabrics shield your muscles from oscillation and road vibration. Unlike many materials with dense and compressive characteristics, De Marchi's Pro-grade Extra Stretch Lycra is very breathable and wicks moisture incredibly well. This means that besides staying supported in the saddle, you'll also remain cool and dry. De Marchi's Pro-grade Extra Stretch Lycra composes the bibs' front straps, before blending into a carbon fiber mesh makeup for the shoulder tops and back panel. This Mesh insert provides you with the ultimate in ventilation and comfort by targeting the backside of your upper torso.

De Marchi Contour Plus Bib Shorts Just because the Contour Plus Bib Shorts are no longer at the top of the De Marchi bib heap, that doesn't mean that they aren't still just about the best bib shorts you could ever expect to wear. If you are looking for long-term comfort and Italian styling at a great price, then these will be your bibs of choice.De Marchi uses their pro-grade extra stretch Lycra fabric with high elastane content to deliver a compressive fit. Key muscle zones like the quads and glutes get a generous amount of compression while the areas around the genitals and the cuffs have more of a tender hold. Being overly compressed can be just as bad as feeling like we're flopping around inside our shorts, so you'll be extremely happy during the beginning, middle and end of a four hour ride that De Marchi has taken the trouble to design a short that is intended to move with your natural anatomy. In the bib, the inelastic mesh at the back it in place while providing essential ventilation. For the insert, De Marchi has relied on its proprietary Contour C12 chamois. Long a comfort reference for cyclists, this pad makes use of De Marchi's unique half-moon shape that allows for a special channel through the center of the pad that suspends the prostate rather than compress it. The design has been streamlined so that the pad is even less obtrusive around the genital area. The midsection of the pad uses a high density polyurethane foam to cushion and support the soft tissues around the prostate. And for the area that cushions the ischiatic bone, De Marchi incorporates their super-high density foam that's vented so air can easily and keep that typically moist area drier. Silver threads are also woven into the pad fabric to keep bacteria to a minimum and reduce fatiguing static. The De Marchi Contour Plus Bib Short come in three colors: Black, Black/Titanium and Black/White. They are available in sizes Small through XXX-Large.

De Marchi Contour Plus Winter Bib Shorts - Men's Winter, and "shorts" aren't exactly two words that find themselves together very often in the cyclist's vernacular, but De Marchi has found a way to create an extremely versatile multi-season tight by simply removing the legs. When paired with your favorite leg or knee warmers, the Contour Plus Winter Bib Shorts are ideal for those "grey area" skies and temperatures when you'll warm up beyond the cooling capabilities of a full tight, yet still need the added upper thigh wind protection and warmth reinforcement of this Winter Bib Short. Versatility is the name of the game here, and with the right fabrics, De Marchi realized this short was ideal for all but the warmest summer months. The shorts are made from Thermolite Roubaix, which is the next evolution in the vein of the superlative Italian fabric, Super Roubaix -- only this time, Thermolite Roubaix remains exclusive to De Marchi. The benefits of this fabric in the Contour Bib Tights are clear; the core of this toasty fleece-backed fabric is made from hollow Thermolite fibers which reduce the fabric's overall weight while enhancing its thermal capacity. The face sides of the fabric are then treated with a protective Teflon application which helps better shield you from wet spray or mud stains should you get caught in a surprise spring shower. The Contour Plus Winter Bib Shorts are built for serious winter miles. As such, they boast the subtly revised C12 Elastic Interface Technology (EIT) pad. The streamlined, unobtrusive profile of the chamois consists of two half-moon sections sonically welded together for a flat, almost undetectable seam. The multi-density foam pad is perforated for optimum ventilation and is topped by a wicking, bacteriostatic waffled micro fiber fabric. Just like a good base layer, the chamois wicks moisture away from your skin and transfers it towards the shorts' exterior where it can evaporate so you won't find your seat area soaked in cold sweat for the duration of your ride.

And, like all De Marchi products, the EVO bib shorts are handmade in Italy using the best Italian materials. The EVO bib shorts were constructed using eight panels of the Pro-grade, 360 Lycra fabric. This dense material incorporates a high elastane content in order to deliver a firm compressive fit around key muscle zones. Unlike many materials with dense and compressive characteristics, De Marchi's Pro-grade 360 Lycra is very breathable and wicks moisture incredibly well. In fact, Pro-grade 360 is made on special knitting machines that allow an asymmetrical pattern construction for more ventilation and active moisture transfer. This means that besides staying supported in the saddle, you'll also remain cool and dry. Additionally, carbon yarns were blended into the fabric for effective bacteria-static and anti-odor action. De Marchi's Pro-grade Extra Stretch Lycra transitions into carbon fiber mesh bib straps and back panel. This mesh provides you with the ultimate in ventilation and comfort by targeting the front and backside of your upper torso. Supplementing this, De Marchi welded in its Aircontrol back vents, strategically placed on the upper back.

De Marchi SL Bib Shorts We find it quite unfortunate how often we're forced to compromise between comfort and durability. Typically, a pair of bib shorts are either lightweight and fall apart after a season, or their so bulky that you don't even want to wear them for an entire season. However, De Marchi has finally cracked the code with its new SL Bib Shorts. Now, with reinforced stitching and a new cut ideology, the SL is free to use lightweight materials that take the edge off of summer conditions. De Marchi used a lightweight iteration of the venerable Sports Lycra fabric for the bulk of the SL bib shorts' construction. Why' Because this material encompasses all of the characteristics necessary for cycling. It possesses a high-level of breathability and moisture management, meaning that the fibers are both permeable and moisture wicking. So, your excess body heat is allowed to escape, keeping you consistently cool. Meanwhile, the fabric's ability to pull moisture away from the skin and quickly evaporate it leaves you dry and free from irritation. Additionally, Lycra possesses a natural four-way stretch, which means that bib shorts will conform to your position and movements, not against them. This is further supported by De Marchi's incorporation of its Body Framing concept cut. Essentially, this means that SL's seam placement was designed to accommodate the body positions and movements of cycling. As a result, you'll find that the SL is free from any bunching, pinching, or chafing. However, while this high-level of structural conformity is appealing, we find it even more impressive that it doesn't inhibit Lycra's natural compressive tendencies. By this, we mean that the fabric is supportive to the muscle groups of the legs. And when couple with the six-panel cut, the bib shorts help to minimize the fatigue-inducing effects of muscle oscillation as a result of road vibration.

Giordana EXO System Bib Shorts We won't sugar coat it. For years, we've viewed Giordana's FormaRed Carbon bib shorts as the pinnacle of comfort. However, never being one to rest on its laurels, Giordana has finally surpassed the monolith of FRC, and the name is the EXO System Bib Shorts. Sure, a host of synonyms come to mind -- ambitious, advanced, etc. However, riding is believing, and in the meantime, you should consider EXO as a ground-up reinvention of competition cycling apparel. We're serious, it's that good. So, you're surely asking, what is it that makes these bib shorts so phenomenal' Well, the name says it all. EXO is short for 'external optimization,' meaning that Giordana is targeting specific muscle groups and regions in order to enhance support and to reduce aerodynamic drag. Right, you've heard this before, but Giordana pursued this initiative with such vigor that it created four exclusive fabrics, and revolutionized the placement and construction of paneling. Starting at the bulk of the construction, Giordana incorporated its certified Power Lycra fabric, Moovix, at specific leg panels that benefit from its compressive composition. In fact, with a composition weight of 210g/m2, Moovix's compression level is gravitating towards those found in recovery pieces. However, where it differs from these is that it does not feature the gradient design that propagates the enhanced blood flow to the heart. Instead, this material places a focus on muscle support and isolation. By doing this, the Moovix panels limit any needless muscle movement in the pedal stroke, while also protecting against the fatigue-inducing effects of road vibration and muscle oscillation. And while you might be thinking that this sounds overly tight and stuffy, Moovix actually features a hollow microfiber composition that's been knit into a honeycomb structure. Accordingly, the material retains an omnidirectional stretch, as well as breathing and managing moisture with ease.

Giordana FormaRed Carbon Men's Bib Shorts If you asked us the last time that we'd seen a pair of bib shorts which featured six separate fabrics in their construction, you'd be looking at our blank stares. However, the Giordana FormaRed Carbon Bib Shorts are made with just that amount. But, don't think that Giordana is simply adding fabric for fabric's sake. Instead, the materials are specifically placed in order to continue the FormaRed Carbon's dominance as one of the best feeling, and certainly best fitting, bib shorts ever created. Starting with the bulk of the shorts' construction, Giordana went with its compressive HC-44 fabric. With a nylon/Lycra composition weight of 180g/m2, the FormaRed Carbon (FRC) bib shorts take on a nearly medical compression level (240g/m2). And while dissecting the fabric title, we find that 'HC' designates 'high-compression,' while '44' stands for the material's threads per centimeter (TPC). As Giordana puts it, the highest prior thread count hovered around 36 TPC. This means that, compared to most competition, the HC-44 is softer, more conforming, and has a higher level of wicking capability. And remarkably, HC-44 achieves this at a lighter weight than most Lycra blends. Why is this important' Well, if you've worn compressive fabrics, you'll have noticed that they're heavy in comparison to traditional Lycra. HC-44 encompasses their key traits, like inhibiting muscle oscillation and promoting a positive circulation, without the detriment of a weighty, poorly-breathing composition. Moving to the inner legs and seat panel, Giordana placed an even stronger fabric called Zaffiro. This material is a certified Power Lycra with a composition weight of 200g/m2. But, unlike HC-44, Zaffiro features a purposefully denser weave with Giordana's SUPER 40 construction technology. This guarantees a continuation of HC-44's aforementioned characteristics, only with a higher level of durability and friction-reduction at the highest points of saddle abrasion.

Giordana G Shield Bib Shorts You're wanting to stay in shape all winter and put the hurt on your buddies come spring, but if you aren't prepared for fall showers and cool temperatures, an afternoon ride is more like playing a game of chance with Mother Nature. Avoid cold, soaked bibs with the Giordana G Shield Bib Shorts. Made to keep you cozy and dry, the G Shield Bib Shorts will prevent rain storms and cold winds from ending your ride early. Made from the Super Roubaix AZ fabric, the G Shield Bib Shorts have a soft, brushed liner for warmth. This microfiber has the stretch of your favorite summer shorts, with the addition of insulating warmth and an efficient moisture transfer. Super Roubaix AZ is treated with Acqua Zero, which bonds with the fabric on a nano level, to give the shorts a water-repellency that won't absorb water after a few hours in the saddle. Instead, the fabric keeps water and cold temperatures from permeating the fabric and silicone-lined seams. The stretch, breathability, warmth, and water-repellency are what set the G Shield Bib Shorts apart, but their construction is what will make them your go-to bibs. Using the least amount of seams possible, Giordana designed the panels to form an anatomically contoured race fit. Giordana also used PowerNet Mesh uppers to keep you cool and to transfer moisture when you're working hard in the saddle. Reserved for top-level shorts and bibs, the G Shield Bib Shorts come with a Cirro O.F. insert -- a multilayered chamois that's made to keep you comfortable and protected during long rides. The top-layer is made from a nylon microfiber that's been infused with Aloe Vera during construction. A natural defender against bacteria, Aloe protects and heals the skin while you ride. The mid-layer is a 4mm, waffled memory foam that manages moisture by circulating any dampness to the outside of the pad for evaporation. The bottom 8mm foam layer is bonded with an ultra-fine protective liner. The Cirro O.F.

Giordana Laser Men's Compression Bib Shorts If you ask Giordana what 2013 means, you'll most likely hear 'fabrics' belted right back at you. Giordana isn't kidding. We've already seen the venerable FormaRed Carbon series touting a veritable laundry list of materials, and now, the same has been done to the Laser Compression Bib Shorts. New for this year, Giordana has placed a focus on its compressive efforts, and while it was at it, the formerly FormaRed-exclusive carbon has also been incorporated. Now, with more similarities than differences, the Laser is reconsidering playing second-fiddle to its older brother. Giordana uses its patented Moovix fabric for the much of the Laser's shorts construction. This material has an engineered omni-directional elasticity, which promotes complete freedom of movement. Don't worry, we understand that this is a rarity for compressive pieces. However, the moderate denier of Moovix naturally promotes a positive blood circulation to the heart, meaning that the more blood you can move to your muscles, the better your output and recovery will be. And while Giordana stakes the claim that Moovix will increase muscle output by 12%, we find that its most vital characteristics involve the inhibiting of muscle of oscillation from road vibration -- a common component to early onset fatigue. Moving to the inner legs and seat panel, Giordana placed an even stronger fabric called Zaffiro. This material is a certified Power Lycra with a composition weight of 200g/m2. But, unlike Moovix, Zaffiro features a purposefully denser weave with Giordana's SUPER 40 construction technology. This guarantees a continuation of Moovix's aforementioned characteristics, only with a higher level of durability and friction-reduction at the highest points of saddle abrasion. Around the area of the core, the Laser utilizes Kite mesh panels in order to effectively regulate your core temperature. Additionally, Giordana placed its new Ametista fabric around the waist as part of its Core Contour System.

Giordana Silverline Men's Bib Shorts Giordana's Silverline clothing hits the price-conscious consumer right in the breadbasket. The comfort and performance perks these bib shorts offer makes the Giordana Silverline Bib Shorts a favorite of the smart shopper. You'll find that they're less than half the price of many other bib shorts that have barely as much to recommend themselves. With an understated personality and neutral colors, these bibs have been designed to pair perfectly with any one of the Silverline jerseys; for that matter, they're a perfect complement for any other Giordana jersey or otherwise. The Silverline Bibs are made from a Power Lycra called Zaffiro, which is an innovative fabric that is manufactured using a multifilament polyamide. That means it is highly compact and dense. Most importantly, its weave offers a balanced multi-directional elasticity which aids in the riders power output and offers amazing durability. It will stretch and move with you, avoiding any uncomfortable crumpling or tugging. Rather, the fabric hugs and supports your muscles during exercise. The Core Contour System has been trickled down from Giordana's more expensive shorts and has been modified to support the needs and requirements of these bibs. They move with you without feeling like a corset. The mesh material wraps the waist with ergonomically designed inserts which are intended to eliminate bunching in the riding position. The mesh obviously provides ample ventilation which aids in keeping you cool during hot, intense rides. The micromesh also wicks moisture away from your torso which will help keep you cool and dry. The panels are all ergonomically cut to move with you. Soft double lycra cuffs mean that these bibs have removed the necessity of having the invariably irritating leg-grippers. Rather the cuffs keep a seamless comfortable hold of your leg without giving you one second of irritation.

Giordana Silverline Men's Bib Shorts Contrary to popular belief, quality bib shorts don't have to cost more than your average training wheelset. Case in point are the Giordana Silverline Bib Shorts. Finally, the Silverline has begun to receive trickle-down technology from FormaRed. For a fraction of the price, the Silverline utilizes compressive fabric technologies and Giordana's Core Contour System. Giordana used its patented Moxie fabric for the much of the Silverline shorts construction. With a nylon/spandex composition weight of 200g/m2, the Silverlines take on an effective compressive nature. However, we wouldn't go as far as to call these bib shorts a compression piece. Instead, while assisted blood circulation will help your anaerobic output, we find that Moxie's most vital characteristics involve the inhibiting of muscle of oscillation from road vibration -- a common component to early onset fatigue. Additionally, the material has been treated in order to accelerate the transfer of moisture away from the skin. So, you'll be riding dry and controlled, regardless of your exertion level. Moving to the inner legs and seat panel, Giordana placed an even stronger fabric called Zaffiro. This material is a certified Power Lycra with a composition weight of 200g/m2. But, unlike Moxie, Zaffiro features a purposefully denser weave with Giordana's SUPER 40 construction technology. Around the area of the core, the Laser utilizes Kite mesh panels in order to effectively regulate your core temperature. And while this system used to be exclusive to FR-C, it's trickled down to the Silverline series, only it forgoes the carbon fibers.

Giordana Trade FormaRed Carbon Custom Roubaix Men's Bib Shorts While our lives at 7000 feet of elevation are filled with elation during the summer, our hearts are overwhelmed with seasonal cruelty in the winter. However, we understand that while half of our year is literally freezing, most places are just cold. So, if you find yourself in a more temperate environment, the Giordana Trade FormaRed Carbon Custom Roubaix Bib Shorts are for you. Made to fit like a second skin, the FormaRed Carbon Roubaix Bib Shorts retain just the right amount of heat during rides of any duration. These bib shorts are the pinnacle of Giordana's 30 plus years of making apparel. Giordana's FormaRed Carbon Roubaix bib shorts are constructed from a sophisticated blend of fabrics that share in the singlular purpose of keeping you warm. Starting at the seat panels, the SuperRoubaix AZ material has been incorporated to keep you protected from wheel-spray. FormaRed uses this thick, stretchy, and breathable material for its water-repellent qualities. Covering the quads is Giordana's new winter-weight fabric, SuperRoubaix Carbon. This material uses an interlocking, microfiber knit construction that creates a highly breathable and warming loft. But, Giordana didn't only place it on the quads for warmth; SuperRoubaix Carbon is highly stretchable and also provides a slight compression that dissipates lactic acid buildup. SR Carbon also controls the stretch of the knit in order to isolate muscles for a resistance to early fatigue. Additionally, the carbon fiber blocks out static and rogue atmospheric electrical interference for an increased anaerobic output. Altogether, the materials work in harmony to keep you insulated, protected from the elements, and riding at your best.

Giordana Trade FormaRed Carbon Men's Bib Shorts When you stop and think about it, every facet of cycling has been touched by the brilliant hand of technology. And not surprisingly, the best keep getting better. Such is the case with the Giordana Trade FormaRed Carbon Bib Shorts. This year, we see Giordana shift its focus to striking the balance between compressive design and soft-to-the-touch comfort. Also, the carbon is more strategically located, and the fit is more dialed-in than ever. Starting with the bulk of the shorts' construction, Giordana went with its compressive Shield Endurance fabric. With a certified Power Lycra composition weight of 240g/m2, the FormaRed Carbon (FRC) bib shorts have taken on a nearly medical compression level. To achieve this, the material features Giordana's new Super 40 generation weaving technology. This refers to Shield's 40 threads per centimeter (TPC), and as Giordana puts it, the highest prior thread count hovered around 36 TPC. This means that, compared to most competition, the Shield is softer, more conforming, and has a higher level of wicking capability. And remarkably, Shield achieves this at a lighter weight than most Lycra blends. Why is this important' Well, if you've worn compressive fabrics, you'll have notice that their heavy in comparison to traditional Lycra. So, Shield Endurance encompasses their key traits, like inhibiting muscle oscillation and promoting a positive circulation, without the detriment of a weighty, poorly-breathing composition. Giordana Vero Men's Bib Shorts Giordana's Trade collection of apparel grew from prototype fabrics and designs put to the test by professional cycling teams around the world. Giordana says that by using real-world testing, this new line 'benefits from the input of the toughest critics in the sport.' The resulting Vero Bib Shorts illustrate this development process, as they stand as the workhorse of the Giordana line. With pro team Vini Fantini-Farnese's colorway printed onto the durable and proven fabrics, you receive much of the same technologies found in the top-tier FormaRed collection, but at a much more palatable price. Giordana used its patented Moxie fabric for the much of the Vero bib shorts construction. With a nylon/spandex composition weight of 210g/m2, the Vero takes on an effective compressive nature. Supplementing the Moxie, the printed panels received Giordana's Shield Endurance fabric. This material is slightly more compressive than Moxie and this is used due to its durability and resistance to releasing color. Additionally, both materials have been treated in order to accelerate the transfer of moisture away from the skin. So, you'll be riding dry and controlled, regardless of your exertion level. As for the fit, the Vero bib shorts benefit from Giordana's innovative contoured cut. Essentially, the bib shorts are created on a curve in order to clone your body in the cycling position. By doing this, abrasion is minimized and fabric bunching and pinching are eliminated. To secure this position, Giordana incorporated its Micromesh bib straps and non-slip cuff gripper. The uppers have a controlled stretch that anatomically regulates flexibility and movement.

Gore Bike Wear Alp-X 2.0 Bibtight Short - Men's The folks at Gore Bike Wear don't make gear for folks who ride their bikes 8 days a year, and people who wear Gore Bike Wear don't ever have to wipe the dust off their bikes... at least not their daily drivers. This is very serious gear for very serious riders. Like everything else that Gore Bike Wear makes, Alp-X 2.0 Bibtight Short isn't for everyone. The Alp 2.0 is made with anti-abrasion materials, a high-tech gender-specific chamois pad, and a tight fit. None of these features benefit the guy who only rides his bike to the coffee shop, unless the coffee shop happens to be on the other side of the state. Alp-X 2.0 Bibtight Shorts are made for long distance riders. Well-made compression fabrics will improve the fit without limiting movement or comfort. Most importantly, they promote blood flow through the most heavily used areas of the body, increasing oxygen flow and reducing fatigue. The compression material used for Alp-X 2.0 Bibtight Shorts will hug you without feeling constrictive. Gore has also been thoughtful enough to include abrasion resistant material at the inside of the leg and around the saddle area, since the last thing you want is a pair of shorts this good wearing out prematurely. The 11 inch (28cm) inseam length will leave you with a very pro looking tan line. The elastic gripper at the leg hems will hold the legs in place so there will be no slippage or bunching of the material. Reflective logos on the side and piping at the back of the legs will keep you visible to drivers even on those days you stay out a little past dark. And for those of you who like to have keys or ID as close and safe as possible, Gore has included a zip pocket on the side of the shorts. The Alp-X 2.0 Bibtight comes with Gore's Alp-X Man Insert. Gore calls it the 'Tour Wonder' because it's designed specifically for multi-day off-road tours.

Gore Bike Wear Contest Adrenaline Bib Shorts Gore Bike Wear's Contest Adrenaline Bib Shorts have all of the technical features that you'd expect from Gore, only they receive an extra dash of style from Gore's special edition graphics. And when coupled with wicking fabrics and an anatomic chamois, the Adrenaline Bib Shorts combine equal parts form and function. For the construction of the Contest bib shorts, Gore chose an 80/20 blend of nylon and elastane for the main panels. When combined, the resulting fabric provides effective moisture management and plenty of stretch to keep you feeling unrestricted in the saddle. And, in addition to this, the fabric of the Contest Adrenaline maintains a consistent airflow through the shorts. So, your core temperature is kept under control during hard efforts. This thermo-regulation is further increased by a mesh panel at the upper-back. And because your comfort is paramount, Gore employs flatlock stitching throughout these bib shorts in order to eliminate seam-chafing and to create a closer, next-to-skin fit. Securing this fit, elastic grippers have been placed at the leg openings to prevent any shifting during movement. Additionally, Gore incorporated reflective materials throughout the shorts in order to increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions. Furthering the aforementioned level of comfort, the Contest Man chamois used here has an anatomic design that directs pressure away from sensitive areas. Accordingly, your weight is supported by your sit bones instead of your nerves. Additionally, you'll find that the contoured shape of the insert allows it to move with you as you pedal, instead of bunching and chafing against the skin. Furthering this concept, the Contest Man chamois features a seamless outer-layer that is non-absorbent in order to maintain a dry interface between your skin and the insert. The Contest Adrenaline Bib Shorts are available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the color Black/red.

Hincapie Sportswear Arenberg Men's Bib Shorts We understand that bib shorts are seldom thought of as tough. Instead, images of leather and steel cloud our heads, when really, we should be thinking of Lycra/nylon blends and chamois. This sounds a little ridiculous, but one ride in the Hincapie Sportswear Arenberg Bib Shorts will change your perception of strength. Built for the pivotal, brutal movement on the road to Roubaix, the Arenberg can withstand the torment of northern cobbles and the cold weather that surrounds them. To combine comfort with warmth, Hincapie made the Arenberg bib shorts from the plush and stretchy BodE Thermal Loft fabric. This material delivers a soft inner lining that utilizes high-loft, fleece fibers to accelerate moisture evaporation. The lining assists in wicking moisture to the quick-drying surface. And not only does the fabric work to keep you dry, but the breathable design also maintains a consistent, insulated temperature for warmth. In fact, Thermal Loft employs one of the heaviest knit structures in the Hincapie lineup to ensure heat retention. However, this is complemented by the outer-layer's Lycra and nylon-blended makeup. Accordingly, the bib shorts effectively wick away moisture to keep you riding dry and at a consistent internal temperature. The Arenberg bib shorts have a malleable, four-way stretch construction that conforms to the contours of your body. And to minimize any shifting during movement, the Arenberg has an exclusive Hincapie Gel-Gripper along the hem of the legs. The Gel-Gripper itself is flexible. However, the anti-slip elastic creates a secure attachment for a perfect fit. The shorts also feature reflective accents throughout the legs for a heightened sense of visibility in low-light conditions. And while warmth and fit are important, nothing compares to a luxurious chamois. Luckily, Hincapie understands this logic and incorporated its Power Chamois.

Hincapie Sportswear Edge Bib Shorts While everyone's opinion differs on what provides comfort, we can all agree that we desire it. And while there's a veritable cornucopia of bib shorts out there to provide it, most designs are anchored to rider feedback and not rider designs. This is where Hincapie Sportswear comes in. As we all know, Big George knows a thing or two about a long duration in the saddle (try 17 Tours), and out of this experience came knowledge. Luckily for you, this education in suffering has led to its relief with Hincapie Sportswear's Edge Bib Shorts. Hincapie approached the Edge bib shorts with a series of objectives in mind. Basically, the Edge was to represent the key fundamentals of bib shorts -- a light overall weight, a comfortable and supportive fit, and a drag reducing design. Luckily for you, Hincapie achieved each of its goals. How' Well, starting at the bulk of the construction, the Edge bib shorts features the soft-to-the-touch, ultra-lightweight TourTek Compressor fabric. At a svelte 225 GSM (a measurement of fabric weight), TourTek provides the best of both the polyester and elastane worlds. The blend ensures that you benefit from the gentle feel and powerful wicking of polyester, while maintaining the supportive fit and aerodynamic edge of elastane. Additionally, the weight of the fabric gives it compressive support that helps promote a positive blood flow to the muscles. And while it's not enough to technically classify the Edge bib shorts as a compression piece, the effects are still more than notable. For breathability, and further weight reduction, the Edge bib shorts features Diamond Mesh at the bib straps. This produces an effective airflow through the uppers in order to keep you cool, and to aid in rapid moisture evaporation. Additionally, it also aids the fit and movement of the bib shorts with its malleable composition. So, when you bend and flex in the cycling position, the Diamond Mesh construction helps the braces move with your body, not against it.

Hincapie Sportswear Emergence Bib Short - Men's Research on endurance athletes -- cyclists in particular -- has shown that performance suffers as core temperature rises. At first glance, the Hincapie Emergence Bib Shorts don't look like they'd do anything to help keep you cool. They are solid black, and black absorbs heat more readily than lighter colors. However, Hincapie is offering a new technology called Coldblack, made by Schoeller. Coldblack is a finish that coats the shorts, reflecting heat energy away from your body and helping to keep you cooler. The 11-panel bibs are cut from Hincapie's AT1 Dynamic fabric, a lightweight and handkerchief-soft nylon/polyester/elastic blend. Body mapping technology allows the fabric to be changed within individual panels so that the amount of elasticity or breathability even within a given panel can be dialed to the exact needs of the rider. You'll get extra give where you need it, like across the rear, while other areas can provide less stretch and more support, such as along the hamstrings. The fabric is coated with a hydrophilic finish that speeds wicking anddrying to keep you as cool and dry as possible. The Emergence chamois features multi-thickness, high-density foam and a 3D-curved anatomic shape. This means that it conforms to your body more naturally than other pads that are manufactured flat and then sewn into shorts. The foam is covered with an antimicrobial microfiber for a soft feel against the skin that won't cause chafing. The cover also features Carbonium fibers to increase heat dispersion on hot days. Another bonus is that the carbon in the chamois also provides some antibacterial protection. The Hincapie Emergence Bib Shorts are Coldblack and come in five sizes from Small through XX-Large. The Coldblack finish helps regulate heat by reflecting environmental heat away from the body and providing a 50+ SPF for significant UVA and UVB protection. Seams are flatlocked for minimal bulk.

Hincapie Sportswear Nitro Bib Shorts It's no secret that Hincapie Sportswear places a massive amount of research and design into each of its pieces, and its Nitro Bib Shorts are a perfect example of this. As a result of this obsessiveness, Hincapie's thoroughness translates directly into enhanced aerodynamics, efficient pedaling, and long-ride comfort. Hincapie constructed the Nitro from two essential fabrics, AT2 Tour Lycra and AT2 Transition. Combined, the two materials provide a light compression that shields the muscles from the fatigue-inducing effects of road vibration, while also providing a complete freedom of movement. To achieve this, the AT2 fabric features a polyester and Lycra composition blend that's supple against the skin, yet its knit is substantial enough as to support the muscle groups of the legs. Meanwhile, the Transition Lycra uses a ribbed polyester blend that further enhances the fabric's naturally malleable characteristics. This means that the material gains a four-way stretch that provides easy transitions in and out of the saddle. Additionally, both materials feature an open-cell knit that effectively manages moisture at the skin. Adding to the Nitro's perspiration management is a soft, aerating Diamond Mesh upper that quickly transfers moisture to outer layers where it's quickly evaporated. This keeps your core cool on hot ride. But, of equal importance, is the Hincapie Pro Chamois that's been incorporated at the bottoms. This four-way stretch pad is not only anatomically designed, but optimized to reduce friction. The chamois' dual-layer, multi-density foam construction absorbs shock, but its brushed microfiber fabric adds an element of softness that few chamois replicate. This reduced friction helps prevent chafing, as does the Pro Chamois ability to dissipate heat and moisture. The Hincapie Nitro Bib Shorts are available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Ocean, Red, and Sulfur.

Hincapie Sportswear Power GT Bib Shorts With a multitude of bib shorts options available, choosing the right pair is a time-consuming process. We all need a pair of bib shorts that're comfortable and fit just right, but we also need durable and supportive fabrics that'll carry us through more than a single riding season. Hincapie knows how important the bib shorts equation is for cyclists, which is why its 2013 lineup takes the bulk of the guesswork out of it. Hincapie provides several lines of apparel that're designed with your type of riding in mind, whatever that happens to be. With that being said, riders looking for highly technical and durable fabrics, combined with a fit that's just right, need to take a hard look at the new Power GT Bib Shorts. They blend comfort, support, and safety into one complete package. Starting with the bib shorts' lower construction, Hincapie used its AT2 Force Lycra Power fabric. AT2 Force Lycra was chosen for the leg panels, as it's a polyester and Lycra Power yarn blend that provides a supple, yet durable, feel. At a lightweight 200g (a measurement of fiber weight), and with a 40-gauge loom construction, the AT2 Force blend ensures that you benefit from the smooth feel and wicking properties of polyester, while maintaining the supportive fit and aerodynamic advantages of Lycra Power. Additionally, this fabric is extremely compact with a multi-directional stretch, giving it firm and compressive support that reduces muscle fatigue and helps promote positive blood flow to your muscles. This material also incorporates what's known as Coldblack technology. This is a finishing treatment that reduces the absorption of heat rays in darker fabrics, resulting in protection from the sun and improved heat management. For the hard-wearing inner-thigh and saddle areas, ABR Resistor Lycra was used. This material is known for its durability, as its specially knitted nylon, polyester, and Lycra yarns combine in order to provide a durable nylon outer surface that resists abrasion.

Hincapie Sportswear Signature Bib Shorts The Signature Line is Hincapie's top-shelf cycling apparel. Using only the finest fabrics and construction techniques, Hincapie designers didn't pull any punches in creating the Signature Line. The Hincapie Signature Bib Short's AT1 Superstruct fabric gives you an edge from the starting line to the podium. The main body panels are cut from Hincapie's AT1 Superstruct fabric, a lightweight and super-opaque polyester and Lycra Power blend that is soft to the touch and supportive. This 240g fabric is extremely dense with multi-directional stretch and return. This dense structure provides support for your muscles to eliminate the effects of fatigue-inducing road-vibration. AT1 Supersturct also provides significant sun protection. Hincapie placed abrasion-resistant ABR Resistor Lycra in areas of high abrasion, mainly where the short touches your saddle. Hincapie then used panels of Velocitek mesh in areas of heavy perspiration. Velocitek quickly pulls moisture to the surface of the fabric, where cooling air evaporates it away. The Signature Lite chamois features multi-thickness, high-density foam and a 3D-curved anatomic shape. This means that it conforms to your body more naturally than other chamoises that are manufactured flat and then sewn into shorts. Icebreaker Link Bib Shorts - Men's Many brands use synthetic blends for their cycling apparel due to the lightweight, breathable nature of the fabrics. But a few companies are out there building technical clothing from blends of merino wool, as its natural properties align with the exact specifications cyclists demand from their outerwear. Icebreaker knows that when wool is purposefully applied to cycling apparel paneling, the results are naturally better than the synthetic competitors. With the new Link Bib Shorts, you receive the advanced technical know-how of Icebreaker's development team built right into every pair. The Link uses a blend of merino wool, nylon, and Lycra to achieve absolute freedom of movement while on the bike. Icebreaker's merino combines the best qualities of traditional wool, synthetics and cotton. Its soft and doesn't itch, its warm in the cold and cool in the heat, and it breathes. People have been drawn to these natural properties of merino for years, and now you receive them built directly into the paneling of your riding shorts. Additionally, this lightweight merino blend pulls moisture vapor to the surface of the fabric, where it quickly evaporates -- It can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture before you even start to feel wet. And one of the best characteristics of this material is that it naturally resists odor, keeping you dry and fresh much longer than synthetic fabrics. The bib portions also incorporate merino into the eyelet bib upper, providing added ventilation where you need it most. In the fit department, Icebreaker designed the Link Bib Shorts using eight anatomic fabric panels that mimic the cycling position. This means that the multi-paneled pattern is curved, which allows for a full-range of movement without any fabric pinching or chafing. The bib portion follows this design, utilizing a large curved back panel and straps that move with you as you ride.

Louis Garneau CB Carbon Men's Bib Shorts Louis Garneau's CB Carbon Bib Shorts are built for the cyclist that puts long hours into the saddle. Essentially, it embodies all of the features necessary for this task, only at about half of the typical asking price. Unlike common dark textiles that absorb radiant energy, Louis Garneau treated the CB bib shorts with its UV-blocking, Coldblack finish in order to reflect the sun's heat. This allows you to avoid overheating during physical activity on hot, sunny days by keeping the actual surface temperature of the fabric lower. Impressed' Well, Garneau wasn't done yet. Also keeping you cool is the CB's blend of Lycra and carbon fiber. This mix results in an engineered outer surface that's texturized for an efficient temperature management. Additionally, its breathable knit accelerates moisture transfer in order to maintain core comfort. But, you're probably wondering if this reference to 'carbon' is actually 'carbon fiber'' The answer is yes. This carbon element has anti-static properties that protect you from the absorption of static and rogue atmospheric electrical interference for an increased anaerobic output. In non-tinfoil hat speak, we' re talking about cell phone tower output, smog, and even acid rain. But, that's not even the extent of this fabric technical features It's optimized, along with the CB's 11 panels, to enhance blood circulation for an improved oxygenation of cells. To do this, the soft-to-the-touch, stretchy knit molds to the curves of your body for maximum muscle compression. The result is an increased blood flow and a reduction of muscle vibration. Together, this equates to a reduction of fatigue. Flatlock seams tie all of the panels together to eliminate irritation and reduce chafing. And where aerodynamics is paramount, laser cut transitions provide an ultra-smooth path for airflow. At the business end of the CB, Louis Garneau's Airgel chamois ensures this is a long distance bib.

Louis Garneau Corsa Bib Shorts The Corsa Bib Shorts are the creme de la creme of bib shorts from Garneau. And even though they dont cost as much as many of our other pro-level bibs, we believe these bib shorts to be competitive with almost any pair of bibs we sell, theyre that good.At the heart of the Corsa Bibs is Louis Garneaus 4 Motion chamois. Its woven polyester construction offers a high degree of stretch -- in four directions as they note -- which ultimately helps the pad mold to your contours and move with you, increasing your comfort. Mesh vents and channel vents help to move moisture away from your body to keep your skin dry and chafe-free. Multi-thickness, high density foam places more padding where you need it most and reduces it in the areas where it isnt as necessary. All this work makes the chamois fit naturally, as if it's not even there. However, the comfort level after a few hours in the saddle tells you otherwise. The Corsa Bib Shorts offer the greatest degree of compression of all of Louis Garneaus shorts. Lycra Power is used in many locations through the eight-panel design. Panels made from Speedtech improve wicking due to the lightweight weave and yet offer incredible sun protection, with an SPF of 50. Carbon-X Mesh and Lazer Rev aid in compression and fabric resilience to make the bibs provide excellent compression and a long life; truly, these bibs are so light in feel that the support they offer is surprising. The bibs feature a rear pocket for riders who wish to ride with anMP3 player so you dont have to devote a jersey pocket to your electronics. Rather than gripper elastic at the leg cuffs, the shorts are finished with compression bands that give them a longish 11.25" inseam. All seams are flatlocked to give the inside of the shorts the smoothest possible feel against the skin. The Louis Garneau Corsa Bib Shorts are available in Black, Black/Blue, and White/red and come in five sizes from Small through XX-Large.

Louis Garneau Course Superleggera Bib Shorts Nothing creates tension between you and your bike like an ill-fitting, uncomfortable pair of bib shorts. Well, perhaps nothing except sweltering summer heat. The Louis Garneau Course Superleggera Bib Shorts are half of Garneau's premier hot-weather ensemble. With effort-prolonging support, breathability, and a superb chamois, they ensure that you and your bike meld in harmony no matter how many miles you tack on as the mercury rises. Eight panels make up the short portion of the Course Superleggera bib shorts. This multi-panel construction allows for a precise, anatomic fit, as well as a strategic use of Garneau's Lycra Power, Delfino, and Lazer Rev fabrics. Used in every area of the shorts but the side panels and grippers, Lycra Power provides a high degree of muscle support and compression that improves blood circulation and increases resistance to fatigue. The Black version of the shorts keep you cool using Lycra Power with a Coldblack treatment that reflects heat, rather than absorbing and retaining it. For the side panels, Garneau used Delfino, a dimpled, nylon/spandex mesh that's quick-drying and provides exceptional ventilation and moisture management. The Lazer Rev fabric provides silicone-free grip at the lower thighs to keep everything in place. Garneau constructed the uppers of the Course Superleggera out of Power Mesh and Carbon X-Mesh fabrics-- using Power Mesh for the lower and back portions, and Carbon X-Mesh for the shoulder straps themselves. Because it contains spandex, Power Mesh is both body-conforming and breathable -- two factors that are essential to effective moisture management around the core area. The shoulder straps are made out of Carbon X-Mesh, which, in addition to ventilation, provides gentle grip and anti-static properties. For further comfort, the bib shorts feature Louis Garneau's own, patent-pending 5 Motion chamois.

Louis Garneau Elite Course Body Suit Over the course of a time trial, every millisecond counts, and accordingly, every damaging variable must be accounted for. So, in a way, we are indeed saying that your six year old skin suit is a hindrance to the results that you should be experiencing. This is where we guide you to Louis Garneau's experience in engineering pure speed. With its Elite Course Body Suit, you not only gain an impressive aerodynamic advantage, but you also get an unparalleled level of comfort and flexibility. To make the Elite Course body suit an aerodynamic wunderkind, Garneau had to consider the symbiotic impact of its every centimeter. Accordingly, the Elite Course uses three different fabrics to achieve its goal of being a drag reducing masterpiece. We'll start with the primary material, Lycra Pro. This fabric features a knit that has a high percentage of Lycra fibers in its composition, which means that you'll experience more muscle support in comparison to heavy polyester blends. Why is this important' Well, more support translates to less muscle movement from road vibration, and thus, less muscle fatigue. Additionally, even though the Elite Course isn't a designated compression piece, you can still expect a slight improvement to blood flow, correlating directly to a reduction of lactic acid buildup. Even better, Lycra Pro has been designed to retain its shape after expanding for body conformity. So, the fabric's shape, fit, and compressive qualities don't run the risk of degradation. And outside of the Lycra Pro's compressive properties, the material is highly breathable, as well. This has been further complemented by Garneau's placement of both Lazer Rev and Reflexx at inner legs and sleeves, respectively. At the inner leg, Lazer Rev contributes to body suit's supportive and compressive nature, while adding a touch more durability. This way, the body suit is less susceptible to any abrasion from inner-leg saddle rub.

Louis Garneau Elite Lazer Bib Shorts It's a simple fact we that can't help but reiterate time and time again: Your bib shorts are undoubtedly the most important part of your outfit. They're your connection to the bike, and the Louis Garneau Elite Lazer Bib Shorts facilitate a harmonious linkage between you and your ride with intelligent design, innovative fabrics, and a chamois that's second to none. Garneau constructed the Elite Lazer bib shorts out of Lycra Pro fabric and used a seven-panel design for an anatomic fit. Lycra Pro includes 25% spandex to offer excellent muscle support and to ensure that the shorts keep their shape. It doesn't provide quite as much compression as the Lycra Power fabric used in Garneau's Course collection, but the fabric is also a bit lighter as a result. The black portions of the shorts use a Coldblack treatment that reflects heat, rather than absorbing and retaining it. And the Lazer Rev fabric provides silicone-free grip at the lower thighs in order to keep everything in place. Garneau constructed the uppers of the Elite Lazer bib shorts out of Power Mesh and Carbon X-Mesh fabrics -- using Power Mesh for the lower and back portions, and Carbon X-Mesh for the shoulder straps themselves. And because it contains spandex, Power Mesh is both body-conforming and breathable, two factors that're essential to effective moisture management around the core area. The shoulder straps are made out of Carbon X-Mesh, which, in addition to ventilation, provides gentle grip and anti-static properties. For further comfort, the bib shorts feature Louis Garneau's own, patent-pending 5 Motion chamois. This chamois, developed with Beveled Edge Molding, uses a 3D, pre-shaped wing design that moves in unison with your body in order to eliminate abrasion. It also features variable-density, a perforated memory foam that's been shaped objectively towards every direction of movement and pressure.

Louis Garneau Equipe Men's Bib Shorts If you ask us, the road to the perfect pair of bib shorts is a simple one. In fact, the criteria is relatively simple -- a slight compressive support, a precise fit, breathability, and a comfortable chamois. However, the simplicity of theory all-too-commonly folds under the pressures of a complex reality. But, we've found that Louis Garneau has never run into this problematic wall, and its Equipe Bib Shorts are the proof. Starting with the basic construction, Garneau made the Equipe bib shorts from a well-positioned blend of Lycra Power, Lycra Pro, and Power Mesh. For compressive support, Lycra Power has been placed at various points on the legs of the shorts. Basically, this fabric features more Lycra fibers per ounce/square yard than typical Lycra compositions. So, the material experiences an elastic hold on your muscle groups, supporting and shielding them from the bulk of oscillation and road vibration. This results in a decrease in overall muscle fatigue, while also, according Garneau, a 10 to 20% improvement in blood circulation. And when the aforementioned is paired with the Lycra Pro material, the shorts experience a heightened level of recovering stretch. So, your freedom of movement is ensured. Further ensuring this characteristic, Garneau designed the shorts with a seamless inner-leg and a ten-panel construction. This not only leads to an increase in flexibility, but, more obviously, it lends itself to eliminating abrasion. Garneau even took this concept a step further by only using flatlock stitching throughout the shorts and uppers. However, all the while, both fabrics possess an extraordinary ability to manage moisture. This means that riding with damp legs after 40k is now a thing of the past. Securing the Equipe's precise fit took a few steps. First, was the compressive fit. Secondly, Garneau included its Powerbands at the leg cuffs.

Louis Garneau Europcar Original Bib Short - Men's Louis Garneau designers didn't pull any punches when they created the Europcar Original Bib Short. This seven-panel bib short utilizes strategically placed panels of coldblack-treated Lycra Power, Delfino, Power Mesh, and Carbon-X Mesh to keep you as cool as possible during hot summer rides. It worked for the 2012 Tour de France King of the Mountain Europcar Team, so it's a good bet that it will work for you, too. Seven panels make up the short portion of the Europcar Bib Short. Garneau treated the Lycra Power panels with coldblack, which reflects heat rather than absorbing it to lower the temperature of the fabric and your skin. For the side panels, Garneau used Delfino, a dimpled, nylon/spandex mesh that's quick-drying and provides exceptional ventilation and moisture management. The Lazer Rev fabric provides silicone-free grip at the lower thighs to keep everything in place. Garneau constructed the uppers of the Europcar bib short out of Power Mesh and Carbon X-Mesh fabrics-- using Power Mesh for the lower and back portions, and Carbon X-Mesh for the shoulder straps themselves. Because it contains spandex, Power Mesh is both body-conforming and breathable -- two factors that are essential to effective moisture management around the core area. The shoulder straps are made out of Carbon X-Mesh, which, in addition to ventilation, provides gentle grip and anti-static properties. For further comfort, the bib shorts feature Louis Garneau's own patented 4 Motion chamois. This chamois, developed with Beveled Edge Molding, uses a 3D, pre-shaped wing design that moves in unison with your body to eliminate abrasion.

Louis Garneau Europcar Replica Bib Shorts Team Europcar continues its assault on other teams throughout Europe this season, led by the highly unpredictable, punchy attacks of team leader Thomas Voeckler. Louis Garneau's Europcar Replica Bib Shorts bring the European team's colors to those of us who don't bolt out of pack in the Pyrenees with the same punch as Tommy V, but who still want to be supported and comfortable on our own riding quests. Starting with the construction, Garneau crafted the Europcar Replica bib shorts from a blend of Perfo Light Power, Lycra Pro, and Power Mesh. For compressive muscle support, Perfo Light Power was placed at various points on the legs of the shorts. This fabric incorporates more Lycra fibers per ounce/square yard than typical Lycra compositions, providing a compressive hold on your muscle groups. This means that you stay supported and shielded from the bulk of oscillation and road vibration, resulting in both a decrease in overall muscle fatigue and, according to Garneau, a 10 to 20% improvement in blood circulation. Garneau paired the Perfo Light Power with the Lycra Pro material on the outer panels, which gives the shorts a high level of recovering stretch. This provides you with a maximum freedom of movement and ensures that fabric flexibility is maintained. Garneau also designed the shorts with a seamless inner-leg and a 10-panel construction, lending itself to increased flexibility and eliminating abrasion. The secure fit of the Europcar Replica bib shorts was accomplished through the use of compressive fabric panels and Garneau's Powerband leg cuffs. These provide a strong, no-slip hold on the legs, but they also reduce pressure on the lower legs in order to maintain proper circulation. Garneau further achieved its body-holding characteristics by constructing the bib straps from Power Mesh, with an added stretch trim that ensures flexibility.

Louis Garneau Fit Sensor Bib Shorts The new Fit Sensor Bib Shorts were designed to provide you with the ultimate combination of support and all-day riding comfort using its new fabric blends. The bibs represent Garneau's 30 years in the apparel-making business, incorporating the same designs and fabrics used to outfit the world's best cyclists. Garneau continues this legacy with the Fit Sensor, as they were built with its signature fabrics and attention to detail. Starting with the construction, Garneau made the bulk of the bib shorts using 13 panels of its new Fit Sensor fabric. This material relies on a double-construction knit that maximizes the specific properties of each fiber used in its composition. In other words, a smooth nylon was applied to the front of the fabric, which works to resist abrasion and add to the bibs' overall durability. On the back of this nylon material, Garneau mated a brushed polyester that works to efficiently transfer moisture to the quick-drying nylon layer as well as aid in thermo-regulation. For compressive support, Lycra was integrated throughout, providing an elastic hold on your muscle groups to support and shield them from the bulk of oscillation and road vibration. This results in a decrease in overall muscle fatigue, while also improving blood circulation. The secure fit of the Fit Sensor bib shorts was accomplished through the use of compressive fabric panels and Garneau's Powerband leg cuffs. These not only provide a strong, no-slip hold on the legs, but they also reduce pressure on the lower legs in order to maintain proper circulation. Garneau further achieved its body-holding characteristics by constructing the bib straps from Power Mesh, with an added stretch trim that ensures flexibility. These straps hold the position of the shorts, and also aid in pulling perspiration away from the back and torso with their moisture wicking composition. Garneau included its AirZone insert into the Pilot LE bib shorts.

Louis Garneau Neo Power Bib Shorts In recent years, we've seen mounting data to show that specifically designed clothing, like the Garneau Neo Power Bib Shorts can offer significant performance advantages. The magic is in the blend of material that makes up the body of the shorts. They're composed of 25% Invista Lycra Power. This material helps support your muscles by giving firm yet gentle compression. And with tests showing performance gains of 10% and more, one has to wonder, exactly how does it work'Power Lycra helps us in a couple of different ways. First, the extra compression helps circulation by providing a boost for venous blood flow from the legs back towards the heart. This is a simple equation -- faster, more efficient flow back through the heart, towards the lungs, recharged with oxygen, and back to the muscles will make you stronger, and last longer. In addition to the beneficial circulatory effect, the material saves your body some of the energy required to make this happen.Secondly, the Neo Power Bib Shorts are designed to counter the oscillation, or bouncing, of your muscles as you ride. In a wildly exaggerated example, a guy using a jackhammer would experience serious jolting throughout his entire body. And anyone who's wrestled one of these beasts for a full workday will know -- each and every muscle will be painfully sore. This kind of muscle damage can be prevented by stabilizing the muscles. And when they're stabilized, the isolated movement is more accurate and more efficient. The advantages would increase as the road gets rougher.Considering the functional attributes of the Garneau Neo Power Bib Shorts, they fit like a second skin. Compared to regular shorts, they'll be tighter for sure. This is perfectly normal, and when selecting the size, they should be consistent with your regular sizing in Garneau shorts. The Powerband leg cuff is one aspect of these shorts that we really like.

Louis Garneau Perfo Light Power Bib Shorts Surely, you've heard that the best things in life are free. However, you've probably also heard that there's no such thing as a free lunch. This leaves us all at a median-zone quandary. So in terms of cycling, we like to say that the best things come at low prices. Not surprisingly, Louis Garneau's Perfo Light Power Bib Shorts doesn't dispute our assertion. For the Perfo Light's construction, Garneau incorporated two different fabrics at two different sections. Starting at the shorts, we find the bread-and-butter Delfino material. This fabric features a dimpled mesh structure, which, at the interior, appears as an attempt at perforation that didn't quite make it through the material. Accordingly, these 'pockets' in the fabric act much as a honeycomb knit does, effectively pulling sweat away from the skin. Along these lines, Delfino tends to absorb less moisture than most Lycra blends, accelerating evaporation in order to leave you riding dry. Additionally, Delfino is a tremendous muscle supporter. With a 195g/m2 fabric weight, and a calculated blend of Lycra and nylon, this materials essentially holds the muscle groups in place, protecting them from the fatigue-inducing effects of road vibration. Garneau has also taken the precautionary step of protecting the fabric itself. In fact, Garneau claims that Delfino maintains its properties and colors after being exposed to concentrations of chlorine 15 times that of pool water. So, durability is assured for both the muscles and the fabric. In terms of fit, Garneau designed the shorts to be perfectly adaptable to the position and movements of cycling. In fact, Garneau cut the Perfo on an anatomic contour in order to ensure this. This works in coordination with the shorts' 11-panel design, ensuring that every body movement is predicted and supported. And securing this fit are Garneau's compressive Power Band leg grippers and highly breathable Power Mesh uppers.

Louis Garneau Pilot LE Bib Shorts There's something to be said for simplicity in design. Often, it seems that manufacturers get so caught up in trying to design the 'ultimate,' that they forget what they originally set out to accomplish. The results can be ridiculously complex and overbuilt to the point where more actually becomes less. This is not often the case with the good folks at Louis Garneau. Most of their designs attack a problem in its simplest form, with outstanding results. Case in pointthe Pilot LE Bib Short. Starting with the basic construction, Garneau made Pilot LE bib shorts from a well-positioned blend of Lycra Power, Lycra Pro, and Power Mesh. For compressive support, Lycra Power has been placed at various points on the legs of the shorts. Basically, this fabric features more Lycra fibers per ounce/square yard than typical Lycra compositions. Louis Garneau Tri Elite Men's Course Suit The logic behind the Louis Garneau Tri Elite Course Suit is simple -- more seams mean more abrasion, a less precise fit, and decrease in aerodynamics. So, the natural solution to minimizing seams is creating a one-piece suit. And with Garneau's One-Piece Technology, you receive a next-to-skin fit that increases comfort and speed over every leg of the course. Garneau constructed the lower portion of the suit from its Lazer Rev fabric. This material features a knit that has a high percentage of Lycra fibers in its composition. This means that you'll experience more muscle support in comparison to heavy polyester blends. Why is this important' Well, more support translates to less muscle movement from road vibration, and thus, less muscle fatigue. Additionally, even though the Tri Elite Course isn't a designated compression piece, you can still expect a slight improvement to blood flow, correlating to a reduction of lactic acid buildup. Even better, Lazer Rev has been designed to retain its shape after expanding for body conformity. So, the fabric's shape, fit, and compressive qualities don't run the risk of degradation. And to keep the heat at bay, Garneau also treated the lowers with its Coldblack finish. This finish forces the sun's heat to be reflected away, instead of absorbing it like most fabrics. So, you can ride on the rivet during summer races without running the risk of overheating. You might be asking where aerodynamics come into the fold. Well, this a two part story, with Chapter One being the materials, and Chapter Two involving the construction. Moving along these lines, Garneau designed the Tri Elite Course shorts portion with a minimal number of seams. Not only does this minimize the possibility of abrasion, but it also creates a smooth, laminar air flow over the legs. You'll notice that the inner leg features a seamless design, and that the hems of the legs have been laser-cut.

Pearl Izumi Attack Bib Short - Men's When you are looking for a simple, straight forward, no-nonsense pair of bibs, you need look no further than the Pearl Izumi Attack Bib Shorts. The comfy fit and thoughtful use of materials will make these bib shorts as easy on the anatomy as they are on the pocket book. The core of any pair of shorts is the chamois pad; without a good one, you might as well wear your gym shorts out riding. The Pearl Izumi Race 3D Chamois is a comfort-oriented pad for riders who get in anywhere from two to seven days of riding in a week. It has been pre-shaped to fit the contours of your body and even has slightly denser padding than the P.R.O. Seamless Chamois to offer a touch more cushion. The advanced Pearl Izumi four-way stretch technology will keep the pad moving with you and wicking sweat so you won't have to worry about irritating, saddle sore-inducing friction. In addition to a pad that melds perfectly with your shape, the shorts have been given an anatomic eight-panel cut that will fit you like a second skin. Pearl Izumi used their Select Transfer fabric so these shorts wick sweat better than any pair of shorts or bibs currently in your closet. The Select Transfer fabric is the foundation for all the moisture management fabrics used in much more expensive Pearl Izumi products, so you can be sure of standard-setting performance. Not only that, but the flatlock seams won't bother you after a couple hours of riding in these bibs. The uppers make use of the Direct-Vent panels to help keep your upper body cool, while at the other end silicone leg grippers hold the leg hems in place without pulling or pinching your skin. If you are wondering where your tan line will fall, the Pearl Izumi Attack Bib Shorts have a nine inch inseam (size Medium). Reflective elements are included to keep you visible in low light. The Pearl Izumi Attack Bib Shorts are available in Black and Black/White. They come in sizes Small through XX-Large.

Pearl Izumi BMC Elite LTD Bib Shorts As clothing sponsor for team BMC, Pearl Izumi created a new line of technical team apparel exclusively for the public. The BMC Elite LTD Bib Shorts are part of this new collection, incorporating proven material technology, construction methods, and aerodynamic fits to provide you with some of Pearl's most advanced clothing to date. The BMC Elite LTD Bib Shorts were built with each of these characteristics in mind, delivering a race proven design that provides maximum comfort and support. Pearl Izumi constructed the bulk of its BMC Elite LTD Bib Shorts using a compressive nylon/spandex blend. This lightweight fabric provides exceptional breathability and rapidly transfers moisture to its quick-drying outer surface. Additionally, this smooth material provides a moderately compressive hold, which supports your muscles and protects them from the fatigue-inducing effects of road vibration. Pearl Izumi also applied the Signature BMC graphics to the material, giving you the proper Thor and Cadel look while out on the road. For the bibs' upper portion, lightweight mesh material was used for its smooth wrap, ventilation, and ability to wick moisture incredibly well. Blending these two fabrics for the bulk of the shorts paneling material means you stay supported, dry, and comfortable throughout your longest rides. The multi-panel design of the bib shorts gives you an anatomic fit, with structured leg openings that wrap and support your muscles. The inseam measures nine inches (size Medium), and the cuffs are treated with a compressive, gripper free system, which keeps the panels in place and provides extra hold for knee/leg warmers. Wide bib straps flow up from the top panels, smoothly tapering slightly at the shoulders. For long distance comfort, Pearl Izumi spec's its anatomically-shaped, three-layer 3D Elite chamois. This insert's density varies from a maximum of 13mm to a minimum of seven in order to relieve pressure and permit blood flow where it matters most.

Izumi's Transfer In-R-Cool fabric is treated with Coldblack, providing the balmy-weather-cooling capacity necessary for long hours of summer riding. Also keeping you cool is Pearl Izumi's proprietary blend of nylon, elastane, and polyester. This mix results in an engineered outer surface that's textured for enhanced temperature management., Additionally, this breathable knit accelerates moisture transfer away from the skin in order to maintain core comfort. Extra ventilation in the form of direct-vent panels and a mesh upper also provide superior airflow, while ensuring a high level of structure stability that's free from pinching. For long distance comfort, Pearl Izumi spec's its anatomically-shaped, three-layer 3D Elite chamois. This insert's density varies from a maximum of 13mm to a minimum of seven in order to relieve pressure and permit blood flow where it matters most. Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Tri Suit - Men's In order for a Tri Suit to be effective, it needs to move with you and adapt to each distinct discipline. However, swimming, cycling, and running, when isolated, require specific features and technologies that keep you comfortable and protected. Pearl Izumi, with a wealth of material and construction expertise, expertly balances those factors in the Elite In-R-Cool Tri Suit for maximum efficiency and comfort. The body panels used to construct the Elite-R-Cool Tri Suit are made from Pearl Izumi's ELITE Transfer In-R-Cool fabric. This is a lightweight and super elastic material that incorporates what is known as Coldblack technology. If you're unfamiliar, this is a finishing treatment that reduces the absorption of heat rays in darker fabrics. The reflective properties work to reduce surface temperatures on the fabric up to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in direct sunlight, while providing a UPF 50 level of protection. The benefits of incorporating this fabric include an increased level of body temperature regulation through moisture management. By effectively moving moisture from the skin to the material's surface, where it quickly evaporates, your body stays dry and cool throughout the duration of your two ground legs. In terms of fit, the pairing of Pearl Izumi's ELITE Transfer In-R-Cool material with its ELITE Transfer Aero fabric allows the stretch needed for next-to-skin comfort. And in addition to the temperature regulating characteristics found in the In-R-Cool material, this fabric also incorporates Lycra Sport for its highly compressive properties. Strategically placed ELITE Transfer Aero fabric panels also provide you with enhanced aerodynamics. As with all of Pearl Izumi's inserts, the TRI quick-dry chamois included in the suit is constructed with variable density padding, and is contoured specifically for anatomic comfort. This 3D anatomic fit provides the necessary support for the cycling leg, but doesn't inhibit either your run or swim.

Most of the time it simply makes it easier to match. However, in the case of the Pearl Izumi P.R.O. In-R-Cool Bib Shorts, you'll discover that the shorts and jersey both utilize the same materials that will turn your hot and humid summer ride into a comfortable, ventilated joy. This chamois is Pearl's most advanced, suited for enthusiasts and pros alike... anyone on the bike four or five days a week. Impressively, this iteration of the chamois still has the variable density foam, but it's 35% lighter and thinner than before. The three layers of padding make it possible to place material where it is needed. You won't have to worry about chafing since it is seamless and has a four way breathable stretch to avoid any moisture build-up. Pearl Izumi also included their Pressure Relief Technology (PRT), which means that the insert has been specifically designed to relieve pressure from the most tender areas and allow the blood to circulate. Pearl also added thermo-regulating carbon yarns, which prevent friction from developing. As for the bib legs, Pearl Izumi has made use of the same advanced materials that they have lavished on the P.R.O. In-R-Cool Short Sleeve Jersey. Pearl integrated both its Minerale and In-R-Cool technologies into the bib legs to take advantage if their heat-reflecting and sweat-wicking properties. Minerale boasts 15 times the typical poly weave surface area, which facilitates wicking and evaporation of moisture. The anatomic, multi-panel design ensures the riding position fit will be free from bunching or gapping. The bib suspenders use the P.R.O. Transfer fabric with Minerale straps. Leader Bib Shorts are built with each of these characteristics in mind, delivering race-proven bibs that provide maximum comfort and quality. Pearl Izumi constructed the bulk of the bib shorts using a combination of two distinct technical fabrics. The first is P.R.O. Transfer In-R-Cool, which is a lightweight and super elastic material that incorporates what's known as Coldblack technology. This is a finishing treatment that reduces the absorption of heat rays in darker fabrics, resulting in protection from the sun and improved heat management. The second fabric is Pearl Izumi's Transfer Dry fabric, which complements the In-R-Cool material with its ability to pull moisture from the skin, accelerate dry time, and combat odor. Pearl Izumi accomplishes this by treating the Transfer Dry with what it calls Minerale. Basically, this is a porous, highly absorbent yarn that's been infused with crushed volcanic rock. Blending these two fabrics for the bulk of the shorts' paneling material means that you stay supported, dry, and comfortable throughout your longest rides. The multi-panel design of the bib shorts gives you an anatomic fit, with structured leg openings that wrap and support your muscle groups. The inseam measures ten inches (size Medium), and the cuffs are treated with silicone -- keeping the panels in place and providing extra grip for either knee or leg warmers. Wide bib straps flow up from the top panels, smoothly tapering at the shoulders. The P.R.O. Leader Bib Shorts are built around Izumi's seamless 4D Chamois. This insert incorporates 12mm variable density padding throughout its three-layer construction.

Pearl Izumi P.R.O. LTD Bib Short - Men's When a certain noted automobile manufacturer offered its first car in black -- and only black -- it was for economic reasons. Cycling, on the other hand, has been plagued by black shorts since their inception -- for no good reason. Pearl Izumi, thankfully, offers a line of LTD products like this P.R.O. Bib Short to break free from the darkness. Sharing construction and materials with the P.R.O. Bibshorts, the LTD turns hot and humid summer rides into a comfortable, ventilated joy with a splash of color. This includes Pearl's top of the line P.R.O. Seamless 4D Chamois, so you know your rear will be ready for whatever the road and your riding companions can throw at you. This chamois is Pearl's most advanced, suited for enthusiasts and pros alike -- anyone on the bike four or five days a week. And you'll be impressed to know that this iteration of the chamois still has the variable density foam, but it's 35% lighter and thinner than before. The three layers of padding make it possible to place material where it is needed. You won't have to worry about chafing since it is seamless and has a four way breathable stretch to avoid any moisture build-up. Pearl Izumi also included their Pressure Relief Technology (PRT), which means that the insert has been specifically designed to relieve those most tender spots and allow the blood to circulate. They also added thermo-regulating carbon yarns, which prevent the friction from developing. As for the bib legs, Pearl Izumi has made use of the same advanced materials that they have lavished on the P.R.O. In-R-Cool Short Sleeve Jersey. By integrating both its Minerale and In-R-Cool technologies into the Transfer fabric that is used for its bibs, Pearl Izumi ensured that the fabric will reflect the sun to keep you cooler and simultaneously work to wick the sweat that does develop. Integrating Minerale boasts 15 times the typical poly weave surface area, which facilitates wicking and evaporation of moisture.

Santini BCool Bib Shorts Even die-hard bib shorts devotees need a little less material up top when the mercury rises. And not surprisingly, the maestros at Santini have crafted the BCool Bib Shorts with this very situation in mind. These are definitely one pair of bib shorts that you'll want to have on hand for the hottest periods of your riding season. Santini constructed the Bcool bib shorts from the Lycra Newport material -- a fabric with enhanced shape retention and a UPF 50 rating. This fabric was selected for its superior breathability and rapid moisture management. Furthering this design principle, Santini placed carbon fiber fabric inserts throughout the bib shorts in order to enhance thermo-regulation at key locations. According to Santini testing, athletes wearing carbon fabric experienced temperature variation three-times lower than with wearing fabrics made only of polyester. By sheltering you from temperature spikes, carbon fabric inserts allow you to save a few precious heart beats per minute, thus reducing your oxygen need. To put it more simply, you're a machine, and this fabric increases your efficiency. 'Efficiency' in this sense means increasing your body's ability to turn metabolic energy into mechanical energy over longer periods of time. It also equates to having some gas left in the tank for long climbs in the last 20 miles of a mid-Summer century. The BCool bib shorts provide the same compressive support found in other Santini shorts with a 78% polyester/22% elastane blend, however, what sets them apart are the braces themselves. About the width of a typical pair of suspenders, the elasticized-mesh braces bisect the pectoral muscles before securely nestling between the depression of your trapezius muscles and clavicle. Around back, they're met at the mid-lower back by a mesh insert that draws them together slightly in order to accentuate their stay-put grip at the shoulder.

Santini Gara Bib Shorts Let's face it, the long haul is a really long haul. After 80 kilometers, everyone needs as much help as they can get. And while your personal jury might still be out on dedicated compressive apparel, a prudent compromise takes shape in the Santini Gara Bib Shorts. For the construction of the Tempo bib shorts, Santini used the Lycra Power fabric to ensure a precise, comfortable, and compressive fit. This material supports the legs' muscle groups through a tight, compressive weave. Basically, according to Invista's certification, Lycra Power reduces lactic acid buildup via increased circulation. As a result, your endurance output can be elevated by as much as 30%. You'll also notice that the fabric supports and holds the legs' muscle groups to minimize the detriment of fatigue from road vibration and general strain. Additionally, Lycra Power is extremely breathable, and it has a heightened level moisture management. So, you're guaranteed to be riding dry and cool under heavy exertions. And while high-end fabrics are fantastic, Santini's renown emanates from its characteristically Italian design and fit. Basically, Santini is aware that the Tempo bib shorts are made for riding, not lounging. So, each pair features a multi-paneled, minimally-seamed design that's been cut to greet the contours of your body while in motion. On top of this, only flatlock stitching was used for the Gara's construction. This means that, in the saddle, you won't experience any bunching or chafing. And to ensure that the fit remains secure, Santini incorporated its external, silicone leg grippers. These grippers apply even pressure across the leg, so you won't experience any pinching or loss in circulation. As for the uppers, Santini used an open mesh design that's met with a tall brace system at the back and sides. This interface provides stability and support to the overall fit, while the mesh straps retain a high level of breathability.

Santini Max 6Five Bib Shorts Gambe translates to legs in Italian. It's not surprising, then, that Santini brings forth a new lineup of apparel that proudly bears this name as a mark, and possibly a reminder, of what physically propel us on our machines. Your legs either get the credit for a good effort or the rap for a poor showing. There's never a grey area, and that's why Santini designed the Max 6Five Bib Shorts, incorporating its latest technologies to make sure that you have more of the 'good legs' days. Starting with the material of the leg panel, Santini opted for Lycra Newport due to both its compressive and highly elastic properties. This fabric is comprised of 78% polyamide and 22% elastane that firmly holds your leg muscles in place without ever making them feel too constricted. This blend also yields fabric panels that are highly elastic and thin. So, they easily transfer moisture and breathe much better than standard Lycra variants. The front and side panels form vertically long sections, meeting the wide mesh bib straps relatively high up on the torso. This design feature equates to fewer bib upper-to-lower joining seams. Accordingly, you not only gain better aerodynamics when you're in the riding position, but also a smoother feel against your lower stomach and hips. No more fabric bunch and pinching seams around your lower torso, regardless of how tucked in you get. Santini's slim internal silicone leg grippers wrap the lower cuff panels to keep the fit of the shorts securely in place. The Max 6Five chamois is Santini's anatomically shaped, multiple-density foam Coolmax Max2 insert. Like all Santini pads, the Max2 is handmade, sewn internally so that the curves and depressions have no exposed seams. This design assures maximum comfort in the perineal area, with no stitching contacting your skin along the central channel. Wrapped with an antibacterial microfiber wicking outer layer, the Max2 chamois keeps you comfortable and dry atop your saddle for all-day riding sessions.

Santini Max Honor Bib Shorts - Men's Santini's Max Honor Bib Shorts are a terrific value, but don't mistake the word 'value' for the usual euphemistic implication of having fewer features and a lower quality. Instead, the Max Honor bib shorts are constructed with a compressive Lycra fabric in a contouring, supportive cut that meets all of your training and racing requirements. Essentially, these are the consummate any-day, any-ride pair of bib shorts. Santini's Max Honor bib shorts are constructed from Thunderbike, a Power Lycra fabric that's been treated with Coldblack technology in order to both support your muscles and to keep them cool. It provides ample return to support key muscle groups, which reduces the fatigue caused by road vibration and muscle oscillation. The Coldblack treatment reflects up to 80% of the sun's radiant energy -- setting it apart from non-treated, black-colored fabrics, which absorb as much as 90%. The makers of Coldblack technology claim that its benefits won't diminish over time and can't be washed out. Of course, while there're many factors involved in muscle fatigue, proper support and heat regulation are among the most important factors to consider if you want to finish your longest rides with anything left in the tank. The fiber strength and knit of Thunderbike also happen to give the shorts a heightened level of resistance to abrasion and durability. In addition to its supportive characteristics, Santini chose Thunderbike for its highly breathable and fast-drying capabilities. This has been furthered through the Max Honor's incorporation of elasticized mesh braces in order to increase breathability in key areas. The main body of the shorts are Power Lycra and extend above the waistline, providing support to the lower abdominal and your sides. Meanwhile, the mesh braces drop low on the back while tracing your obliques in the front. This interplay of Lycra and elasticized mesh creates a useful balance of support and ventilation on hot days.

Santini Tempo Bib Shorts In the saddle, nothing is more important than fit and comfort. After all, a century ride is hard enough without irritation and discomfort. That's why you need to pick your apparel wisely, and where better to turn to other than the master Italian craftsmanship of Santini' With its Tempo Bib Shorts, Santini has raised the bar of comfort with compressive qualities, integrated carbon fibers, and an exclusive, proprietary chamois. For the construction of the Tempo bib shorts, Santini used a blend of materials to ensure a precise and comfortable fit. Starting with the base of the composition, Santini's Lycra Newport fabric supports the legs' muscle groups through a slightly compressive weave. While it's not compressive enough to reduce lactic acid buildup via increased circulation, the fabric does offer enough support to minimize the detriment of fatigue from road vibration and general strain. Additionally, Newport is extremely breathable, and it has a heightened level moisture management. Both of these characteristics are further exemplified through Santini's placement of Carbon fabric inserts. These hypoallergenic fibers are strategically placed along the skin in order to exploit their ability to block the UV rays and static electrical charges that aid in the buildup of lactic acids. Ultimately, the carbon fibers assist blood flow on an incremental scale, while providing a consistent thermo-regulation. This means that, in the saddle, you won't experience any bunching or chafing. And to ensure that the fit remains secure, Santini incorporated its external, silicone leg grippers.

Sugoi RS Bib Short - Men's Since 1987, Sugoi has known that the right gear enhances not just comfort, but performance as well. And, that's exactly what the RS Bib Short's intelligent design intends to do. From the impressive ten-panel fit, to the Powermesh fabric, to the Formula FX chamois, The RS is optimized to squeeze as much out of your ride as possible. Six-panel shorts are the entry-level standard for short construction, where eight-panel ones are typical reserved for the requirements of competition. Ten-panel designs, however, take it to the next possible frontier by offering a perfectly countered fit. This is necessary to effectively support muscles, and allows Sugoi's PowerMesh fabric to perform as intended. PowerMesh is a blended fabric with a wrapped knit that's perfected to support and lightly compress muscles. This helps prevent vibration and encourages muscles to feel fresher as the end of a ride approaches. PowerMesh is also engineered to be incredibly soft against the skin, but just as importantly, it's designed to pull perspiration from the skin. The quick-drying PowerMesh evaporates that perspiration to reduce irritation and it also cools to regulate core body temperature. Sugoi uses flat lock seams throughout the RS Bib Shorts so your skin isn't rubbed the wrong way, and for ultimate comfort, as mentioned before, the RS is equipped with a Formula RS Chamois. This Chamois features four-way stretch panels to effortlessly conform to your body's natural contours. It's brushed surface is incredibly soft and works with perforations at the front to wick and ventilate. Sugoi uses V-Control to enhance vibration dampening without hindering blood flow or causing un-due pressure. The Sugoi RS Bib Short comes in sizes Small through XX-Large and four colors; Concrete, Cyan, Matador, and Black.

Sugoi RS Team Men's Bib Shorts While Sugoi's RSE bib shorts are ideal for servicing the uppermost echelon of cycling, us mere mortals will find that the RS Team Bib Shorts provide features that far surpass our actual needs. With them, you receive the same 10-panel construction as the RSE and a fabric selection that's nearly identical. However, as you'll soon find out, the RS Team is far from a compromising piece. For the construction of the RS Team bib shorts, Sugoi used its lightweight and highly breathable Shield fabric. This material features a warp-knit construction, which, in turn, provides the fabric with a natural stretch. Within the knit, the threads follow a zig-zag pattern along the length of the shorts. This allows more surface area coverage while using less material, equating directly to an airy, lightweight construction. Additionally, this open weave also accelerates moisture transfer away from the skin to the quick-drying surface of the shorts. As a result, you remain dry over long exertions in the saddle. You'll also find that this material's dependable, firm stretch adds an ideal level of muscle support. So, your legs will be a little more shielded from the fatigue-inducing effects of road vibration. As for fit, the stretchable quality of the material ensures that RS Team will conform to your body shape within the cycling position. In fact, through the use of a ten-panel design, also found on the top-tier RSE, the bib shorts have actually been formed and shaped around the aforementioned principle. And while this obviously brings comfort, the panels also lend themselves to less conspicuous applications. For example, the leg panels allow Sugoi to keep the inner-leg void of an inseam. This not only reduces abrasion at the leg, but by eliminating a common point of bulk under the chamois, it greatly reduces discomfort at the 'seated area.' To secure the contoured fit, Sugoi placed its breathable and stable Mobil Mesh bib straps at the uppers -- these are also found in the RSE.

Sugoi RSE Men's Bib Shorts We respect, or at least are less suspicious, of a monochromatic pair of bib shorts. Instead of masking inferiority behind fluorescent colors and wild-style prints, the simple aesthetic of shorts like the Sugoi RSE Bib Shorts, let their actions do the talking. For the construction of the RSE bib shorts, Sugoi used its lightweight and highly breathable Ultra Profi fabric. Compared to most bibshorts' nearly 100% polyester compositions, Ultra Profi is comprised of a sophisticated blend of nylon, polyester, and spandex. Together, a four-way stretch is achieved in order to provide a complete freedom of movement. The spandex also lends itself to an increased hold on the legs' muscle groups. This way, the power-sapping effects of road vibration and oscillation are reduced, leaving you with more energy to get to the line. And even better, with nylon in the lead position, Ultra Profi features a lighter overall weight than most iterations of Lycra. This also extends itself to a gentle feeling on the skin over a long duration of use. However, Ultra Profi's largest benefit comes in the form of moisture management. This material is highly effective at pulling moisture away from the skin, transporting it to the quick-drying surface of the material. So, through its use, this fabric will keep you comfortable over the long haul. As for fit, the stretchable quality of the material ensures that RSE will conform to your body shape within the cycling position. In fact, through the use of a ten-panel design, the bib shorts have actually been formed and shape around the aforementioned principle. And while this obviously brings comfort, the panels also lend themselves to less conspicuous applications. For example, the leg panels allow Sugoi to keep the inner-leg void of an inseam. This not only reduces abrasion at the leg, but by eliminating a common point of bulk under the chamois, it greatly reduces discomfort at the 'seated area.

Twin Six Grand Prix Bib Shorts Panel construction is a significant factor to the delicate balance between price and comfort. Four- and six-panel bottoms will cost you the equivalent of a race fee, while ten-plus panel shorts easily reach a price that'd match a high-end cranksets. Eight-panel bottoms, however, like the Twin Six Grand Prix Bib Shorts, settle right into the middle. However, in typical Twin Six fashion, these bib shorts favor the 'race fee' end of the price-spectrum without sacrificing anything in the comfort department. The Grand Prix's eight anatomically-cut panels allow Twin Six to provide optimum next-to-skin contact without inhibiting muscle movement. This permits the Grand Prix's soft micro-denier blend to provide both the compressive and wicking properties that the knit was designed for. The result are form-fitting bottoms that move with you, not against you. All the while, the compressive design is minimizing the onslaught of fatigue. Twin Six also uses a soft chamois that both dampens and cushions road vibration for long-ride comfort. Additionally, its perforated construction ensures airflow over the insert, which evaporates surface moisture in order to keep you riding dry. Twin Six applied the same principle at the bib straps. As a result, they transport perspiration to an outer layer, while encouraging cooling air to flow over your skin. Finishing this Grand tour are wide elastic leg grippers that prevent migration when spinning. Zero RH + PW Revo Bib Shorts Zero RH +'s PW Revo Bib Shorts are the latest development from its Powerlogic testing lab. And after examining the PW Revo Bib Shorts' differentiated stretch fabrics and welded seam technology, we're confident in saying that the old process of building bibs by sewing traditional Lycra panels together is done with. Zero RH + is helping to change the way that we look at what's possible in developing cycling apparel today, combining unmatched levels of support and comfort into its latest bib shorts package. The PW Revo bib shorts' paneling was made from Zero RH +'s Firedry Gold Sensitive fabric. Firedry is a system of materials made into four versions that are distinguished by different weights and stretch characteristics. As with all of the Firedry fabrics, the Gold Sensitive is lightweight and breathes exceptionally well. It also incorporates highly elastic fibers that support the body's muscle through a full range of motion. What sets the Gold Sensitive iteration apart from the other variants, however, is its super-soft feel against the skin and added stretch. The leg panels were constructed with this fabric due to its ability to firmly hold your muscles in place while riding. Zero RH + also targeted these zones with differentiated stretch fabrics in order to further shield your muscles from the fatigue-inducing effects of road vibration. These inserts have been partially bonded with ultra-flat, smooth seams, keeping you both supported and irritation-free. The bib portion of the PW is made using a technique of preformed anatomic construction. This provides a comfortable, natural fit, especially in the riding position. The bib shorts' stretch microfiber bracing at the upper back ensures optimum stability and an enhanced fit. The mesh lumbar back paneling below this area forces cooling air to pass through the bib in order to keep you cool and further speed sweat evaporation.

Zero RH + Stretch Control Bib Short - Men's Muscle support is the big buzz word among cycling apparel companies these days. That's because it's been proven that supported muscles are less affected by shock and vibration, and therefore take longer to fatigue. Although quite a few manufacturers offer products that support your muscles, few can claim to target this support as precisely as Zero RH+'s Stretch Control Bib Short. Designed around the Stretch Control System, this is a fully featured bib short with Zero RH+'s venerable Uranus chamois pad, abrasion-resistant panels, and open mesh braces.Zero RH+'s Stretch Control System allows designers to apply support and resistance to targeted muscle groups. They did this using rubberized stretch appliques in precise locations on the bib short. Because these appliques are simply printed on the bib short, they are able to vary the amount of effort it takes to stretch them, as well as place them exactly where they want this resistance to occur. On the other hand, areas without the appliques offer the greatest freedom of motion. This is the most controlled system of stretch and support that we've seen, and you can feel the difference during and after your ride. The Stretch Control Bib Short is made with Zero RH+'s Firedry Gold 100 fabric. This moisture-wicking, breathable fabric keeps you dry and comfortable during hot summer rides. Firedry is offered in four different weightsGold 100 being the lightest. It's also abrasion- and wear-resistant, and provides exceptional aerodynamics. Because the overall comfort of a pair of shorts cannot exceed the quality of the chamois contained within, the Stretch Control Short features the exclusive Uranus chamois. This hand-sewn insert features high-density foam that evenly distributes pressure as you move in the saddle. We also want to point out that Zero RH + constructs the Stretch Control Short on a curve. This ensures that the gender-specific Uranus conforms to the body's shape in a cycling position.

Zero RH + ZeeKey Bib Shorts We'd like to note that Zero RH + doesn't hand out its ProLogic designation lightly. Why' Because the pieces within this line reflect the utmost of the Italian powerhouse's technical manufacturing abilities. And after one quick look at the new ZeeKey Bib Shorts, this becomes very apparent. The leg panels of the ZeeKey bib shorts were constructed with the Firedry Gold fabric. Zero RH +'s Firedry is a system of materials made into four versions that are distinguished by different weights and stretch characteristics. As with all of the Firedry fabrics, the Gold is lightweight and breathes exceptionally well. It also incorporates highly-elastic fibers that support the body's muscles through a full range of motion. However, what sets the Gold iteration apart from the other variants is its super-soft feel against the skin and added stretch. The front and rear panels were constructed with this fabric due to its ability to firmly hold your muscles in place while riding. Zero RH + also targeted the outer-thigh with its Burnout mesh fabric in order to further ventilate your body and increase moisture transfer. These inserts have been partially bonded with ultra-flat smooth seams, keeping you both supported and irritation-free. Additionally, they have been engineered to hold their shape, and because of this, they've been formed positioned as a kind of Kinesio applique. Even better, the mesh has been perforated with Zero's proprietary 'burn-out' technique, where, as you guessed, the apertures are burned into the fabric at an almost micro-level. The bib shorts' panels were joined together using a technique known as 'preformed anatomic construction.' This method of cutting the individual panels on a curve provides a comfortable, natural fit, especially in the crouched riding position. Zero RH + knows that this tucked-in fit requires special attention to areas prone to fabric bunching and pulling.
