ABS Avalanche Rescue Devices Powder 15 Zip-On Cover ABS Avalanche Rescue Devices Powder 15 Zip-On Cover
Just like you wouldn't go swimming with clothes on or eat pizza without sausage (c'mon, you're not a savage), you wouldn't take the ABS Powder Base Unit into avalanche terrain without a Powder Zip-On 15 Cover. Most importantly, the avalanche airbag won't work without the cover, but you also won't be able to carry all the essential avy gear you need: the Zip-On 15 has an easily-accessible pocket for your shovel and probe, and ski and snowboard mounts to let you go hands-free when the skintrack turns into a near-vertical bootpack. To further ease your passage, the Zip-On 15 is compatible with a hydration bladder and has a stowable helmet net so you don't need to leave your brain bucket behind just because you've got some ground to cover. It's also interchangeable with ABS' five-liter cover, so you can fine-tune your pack to suit the day's needs--the 15 is perfect for a day tour, and the 5 for super-minimal light 'n' fast assaults. No matter how much gear you need, you'll have the backup of ABS TwinBag airbag system (a part of the ABS Powder Base Unit), proven to help you stay on the surface of avalanches.

Ortovox Free Rider 26L ABS Backpack Ortovox Free Rider 26L ABS Backpack
Skiing fresh powder from the night before or hitting that technical line you've been scoping are wonderful experiences, but not ones that are without risk--avalanches are an ever-present danger, difficult to predict and even harder to escape. Like its little brother the 24, the Ortovox Free Rider 26 ABS Backpack and Airbag Kit isn't a substitute for education, experience, and careful decision making, but it does offer proven life-saving technology that can make the difference between being buried and staying on top, in a package that fits users with 16-19-inch torsos. The Free Rider 26 features the Modular Airbag Safety System (M. A. S. S.) that comes with removable twin airbags, one on either side of the pack, with a combined volume of 170L to help you rise to the top of the debris when caught in an avalanche. An adjustable trigger can be set up on the left or right shoulder strap for easy access, and an aluminum safety bracket zips into a compartment on either strap to prevent accidental releases. (The trigger can also be released from the zippered position, but requires a strong, deliberate action.) When deployed, the airbags fill within seconds, working to keep the wearer on the surface on the slide and acting as brightly-colored locators during rescue. If you're wearing the pack in-bounds or otherwise out of danger, the airbags, trigger, and refillable canister are removable, reducing the weight by nearly two pounds. Once you've deployed the airbags, you must replace the Activation Unit, which consists of the trigger, the small internal trigger canister, and the larger airbag-inflating canister (replacement must be done through ABS). The other parts of the system are reusable. Ortovox made the Free Rider more do-it-all handyman than one-trick pony, however. It comes equipped with an SPS Pro removable back protector that you can wear on its own if you feel the need for some body armor, or remove entirely on mellow days to further reduce weight by ten ounce...

Ortovox Tour 32+7L ABS Backpack Ortovox Tour 32+7L ABS Backpack
If you've spent large portions of your life in the mountains, you've probably had some close calls, whether you know it or not. Part of the allure of remote, unskied alpine peaks is their untamed wildness, but that wildness comes with increased risk--avalanches are an ever-present danger, difficult to predict and even harder to escape. The Ortovox Tour 32+7 ABS Backpack and ABS Airbag Kit isn't a substitute for education, experience, and careful decision making, but it does offer proven life-saving technology that can make the difference between being buried and staying on top. The Tour 32+7 Kit comes with a Modular Airbag Safety System (M. A. S. S.) that has removable twin airbags, one on either side of the pack, with a combined volume of 170L to help you rise to the top of the debris when caught in an avalanche. An included adjustable activation handle comes with a small, internal pressurized release capsule and can be set up on the left or right shoulder strap for easy access, and an aluminum safety bracket zips into a compartment on either strap to prevent accidental releases. (The activation handle can also be released from the zippered position, but requires a strong, very deliberate action.) When pressed, the activation handle punctures the small internal trigger capsule, which in turn activates the piercing unit, puncturing the main canister to fill the airbags within seconds, helping to keep the wearer on the surface on the slide. The shoulder straps, waist belt, and secure leg strap work together to ensure that the pack stays securely attached and correctly oriented. If you're wearing the pack in-bounds or otherwise out of danger, the M. A. S. S Unit, activation handle, and airbag-inflating canister are removable, reducing the weight by about 4 pounds. Once you've deployed the airbags, you must replace the Activation Unit, which consists of the trigger, the small internal trigger canister, and the larger airbag-inflating canister (replacement must be don..
