FOX Racing Shox 36 Float 29 160 3Pos-Adj FIT4 Boost Fork (51mm Rake) description:
We had a difficult time believing the suspension gurus at FOX decided to improve their 36 Float Fork, seeing its unbelievable success in the world of enduro racing and aggressive all-mountain riding. However, after seeing the integration of EVOL technology into their Float air spring, we'd be hard pressed to doubt their motives. EVOL technology is borrowed from FOX's rear shocks, thereby increasing the negative air spring volume for greater sensitivity to small bumps at the top of its stroke. Following suit, the Fit4 damper uses a slightly revised tune with a reconfigured shim stack making it all the more sensitive to light inputs and small bumps. The result is the same FOX 36 Float you've come to love for its unrelenting stiffness on your long-travel 29er, but with heightened sensitivity across loose rubble, rocks, and roots. Impressively stiff 36-millimeter stanchions work to deflect torsional forces from bucking you silly when you're smashing across rock gardens, launching off park hits, and dropping into steep lines. These stanchions employ FOX's Kashima coating for greater sensitivity levels and greater durability on the trail. This Kashima coating is only available on FOX's Factory line, differentiating it from lower spec'd options. This particular 36 Float enjoys the 3-position adjustability of its Fit4 damper, which gives you the option of running it Open, Medium, or Firm. In Open mode, you'll find 22 clicks of low-speed compression damping, which is great for dialing its feel to your exact riding preferences and local terrain at hand. Other notable features include a 51-millimeter rake for a nimbler handling feel by decreasing the "dead" space between the steering axis and hub, as well as 15 x 110-millimeter BOOST thru-axle (quick-release version) for stiffer, more precise tracking.
