Old Greenwich, CT, Summer 1999 - For Spring 2000, LOWA is introducing their Base Camp line of sandals, clogs and casual shoes. True to their heritage, they take every design element seriously and not just as a sideline to their core business. New patterns throughout the line ensure a better, more comfortable fit. The new sandal sole is less clunky and has a beefed up footbed for better support. It is softer and more flexible and is stickier for better traction.

"LOWA has had a lot of fun with the Base Camp Line," stated Peter Sachs, General Manager of LOWA in the U.S. "The designs are technical, serve specific needs and are well thought out, but the shoes are all designed for fun. The Base Camp Line offers a variety of styles and features to use after a great day of enjoying such things as skiing, hiking or river rafting."

The Montego, Bali and Jaco all terrain sandals for men have gripfast rubber soles for superior traction and PU midsoles for comfort. The Montego is leather with neoprene padding. It has a toe and instep closure system for secure fit and a leather footbed for comfort. The all terrain Bali is made to get wet with its neoprene padding and insole. The Jaco has a leather upper and insole and a detachable heel strap for use as a slip- on. The Montego and Jaco are both brown at a Suggested Retail of $90.00. The Baliis black and petrol at $85.

The Tirol, Harrison and Cango casual shoes for men feature a flexible sole construction made of gripfast rubber and a PU midsole. They are designed with the Bavarian style toe seen on a variety of contemporary casual footwear designs. The Tirolis constructed of Nubuk leather with a leather lining and footbed as well as Neoprene in the heel for a secure fit. It is available in brown or black. The Harrison has a Nubuk leather upper and leather footbed with a textile lining. The elastic insert ensures a snug fit. Color choices are beige or black. The Cango has a velour leather upper with Lycra, textile lining and leather footbed. Colors are sand or navy. Suggested Retail on all three models is $100.

Clogs include the lightweight Tolz for men and the new Luna for ladies. The Tolz is a lower version of the Tirol and one of the most popular models in the Base Camp Line. The Tolz is a slip-on clog with Tyrolean style lacing, waxed Nubuk upper with leather lining and a flexible PU sole. It is available in brown or black at a Suggested Retail of $85. The new ladies Luna leather clog offers a leather lining and footbed with PU sole. Colors include beige or denim at $85.00 Suggested Retail.

Everyday sandals include the Sahara and Corral for men and the Nova and Vega for ladies. They are constructed of Nubuk leather with leather lining and footbed and non- slip PU sole. The Corral is enclosed like a shoe except for the open heel. All four models offer a choice of brown or black. The Corral has a Suggested Retail of $100 and the other three models are at $85.00.
