The New XP Series - THE Fast Action Flyrod of the Next Century

Sage is excited to announce the new XP Series. A fast action fly rod which will be available in weights 3 through 8, the XP series will be the fly rod of choice for those looking for a light, quick and responsive rod.

Fast action graphite rods became immensely popular during the 1980ís and 1990ís with the Sage RP, RPL and RPL+. The latest in the line of great fast action rods is the XP. The new blanks are up to 6% lighter than any fast action rod Sage has ever built so the XP Series has the feel of a feathery light rod. But the tapers and design of this rod also make it more resilient than any rod which Sage has ever built. The XP Series possesses a fast action which can be described as "active." This "active" action allows the angler to feel very connected with the line and means that the rod can be fished in close for a delicate presentation, but the "active" action also allows the rod to be fished with larger flies and at longer lengths.

The XPís are made from Graphite IIIe, an enhanced Graphite III material which has many of the advantages of the Graphite IV material used in the SP series. This advanced composite has many of the strength characteristics of the higher modulus materials but also has the makeup to be used in fast action rods.

The XPís use lightwire guides which will cut down on the overall weight of the rod. The three through six weights have a nickel silver reelseat with an Imbuya wood insert. The seven and eight weights have a black anodized aluminum reelseat.

Featuring a new moss green blank with gold trim wraps, the entire XP package is finished with a green rod bag and a Sage colored textured aluminum rod tube. The price on the new XPís will range from $485 for a 3 weight 9í to $555 for an eight weight 10í 4 piece rod.
