Outdoor Retailer On-Snow Demo moves to Park City

On-Snow Demo Finds Ideal Location: Park City

Outdoor Retailer officials respond to industry concerns by choosing new site for Winter Market on-snow demo with improved slope access, cross-country area.

LAGUNA BEACH, CALIF. (August 2, 1999) Responding to industry concerns, Outdoor Retailer will move the location of their 2000 Winter Market On-Snow Demo to Utah¼s flagship ski area, the Park City Mountain Resort.

Home of the U.S. Ski Team, Park City was selected as the site for the On-Snow Demo for its ability to provide better slopeside access for exhibitors and buyers as well as for 20 kilometers of groomed cross-country skiing trail which will be available at the adjacent White Pines Touring Center.

"This is great news for our industry. The site is perfect for our needs. It gives direct access to lifts with the runs leading right back to the demo area," said Dieter Tremp, Outdoor Retailer Show Director.

The move came as a direct response to industry comments regarding the siting of last winter¼s On-Snow Demo at The Canyons Ski Area, which were voiced during the Winter Market 1999 show.

"Outdoor Retailer management has listened to legitimate concerns, worked hard and succeeded at finding a great solution," said Tremp.

From early feed-back, the industry is both supportive and excited about the new location at Utah¼s flagship resort.

"For the cross country industry to have terrain specific for ski testing is critical," said Steve Gladstone, Vice President of Karhu USA. "We¼re very excited that the new venue provides a combination of energetic and gracious hosts with first class facilities."

The exhibitors at the On Snow demo will be located in the main parking lot of the resort, adjacent to the slope and near the base of the First Time and Eagle chairlifts.

The Cross Country testing area will be held across the street from the resort at White Pines Touring.

The precise location of the snowshoe testing area is not yet determined.

And of course, the famed Outdoor Retailer Apres-Ski Party will come to Park City as well, and will be held the evening of the first day at the Park City base area.

The Winter Market 2000 On-Snow Demo is slated for January 27-28, 2000, and is expected to attract more than 70 exhibitors displaying the newest in winter goods for hands-on testing purposes. The Outdoor Retailer Winter Market Trade Show will begin on Jan. 29 and run through Feb. 2.

Outdoor Retailer is a division of Miller Freeman, Inc., located at 310 Broadway, Laguna Beach, CA 92651, (949) 376-8155.

The Outdoor Retailer Winter and Summer Market Shows are the world¼s largest outdoor industry trade shows. Outdoor Retailer Magazine, published since 1980, is the leading publication for the outdoor marketplace.
