Lowe Alpine - TriplePointÆ Waterproof-Breathable Outerwear
From the High-Elevation Elite, to Anybody, Anywhere, Anytime
Fall 99/2000

January 1999

ALPINE EXPEDITION - Designed for multi-day mountain trips--worn by guides, explorers, and mountaineers. Reducing weight, and increasing comfort is paramount in the world of light and fast mountaineering. Of particular note is Loweís new "drytouch" TriplePointÆ Ceramic, un-lined Alpine Pro jacket. This full-on mountaineering shell weighs in at just 21.5 oz while featuring two vertical chest pockets, a swivel sight hood, extra long 2-way pit-zips, double storm flaps, hook and loop closures and its own stuff sack--all for $265 retail.

"Only Lowe Alpine, a company that has lived and breathed climbing and mountaineering for over 30 years, could meet the criteria of alpinists worldwide in such a technically refined garment as the Alpine Pro jacket," says Frank Hugelmeyer, VP of sales and marketing. For complete protection against the elements, the Alpine Pro jacket is accompanied by the Alpine Pro pant for $199.

The standard-bearer of Lowe Alpine apparel, the Alpine Flash jacket, has been made more "skiable" with an internal snow skirt, and a forearm map pocket on the left sleeve--AND at $299 retail, is less expensive than last yearís model. The skier who prefers lower pockets to chest pockets should try the new TriplePoint Ceramic waterproof-breathable Wasatch jacket for men, and Aurora jacket for women at $249. High-visibility red, orange, and deep yellow combinations countered by cool greens and blues make Lowe Alpineís Alpine Expedition collection easy to spot in low light conditions.

MOUNTAIN ACTIVIST - Designed for high-energy sports--run, climb, bike, or ski-- moving fast, moving free. After three years in development, the new "drytouch" TriplePointÆ and TriplePoint Ceramic coatings enable Lowe Alpine to offer highly technical waterproof-breathable un-lined garments, that are lightweight, packable, durable, and have a soft, supple hand. Lowe Alpineís Adrenaline series of rainwear from the Mountain Activist collection made its price-busting debut in Spring 99 at $69-$99 retail, and carries forward for Fall 99 in new colors--red, blue, orange, green, and black. Hugelmeyer says, "The Adrenaline is proving to be our most popular apparel introduction in the history of the company, outselling all other styles."

WILDERNESS TRAVEL - Designed for, and worn, by anyone, anywhere, anytime, for any duration... TriplePoint is widely used for fall 99 in the re-positioned Wilderness Travel segment of the line. Both men and women can enjoy truly technical 3:1 multi-prupose jackets from Lowe Alpine for $199 retail. The menís Pyramid Peak and womenís Stellar jackets both feature waterproof-breathable, seam-taped, TriplePoint ripstop nylon, polyester mesh-lined, 3/4-length shells with zip-in-zip-out fleece jackets. Hugelmeyer points to a growing trend at Lowe Alpine, "Promoting our best performance/best price policy, we continue to raise the bar on technical performance while setting easily accessible prices. Our Wilderness Travel category retails from $99 to $199, making it available to anyone."

The Wilderness Travel collection also features new TriplePoint ripstop nylon fabrics in the more casual menís Atlas trekking jacket, the Storm Force jacket and pant, the womenís Sequoia trekking jacket, and Gale Force jacket and pant. Color palettes this season reflect worldwide trends and are a natural evolution in Loweís color story. The Wilderness Travel color palette consists of soft organic reds, oranges, and greens, to blend in with surrounding scenery--better for birding, backpacking and travel.
