Advanced Basecamp Fly Harness
By Matt Smith

Sometimes you go into a canyon not knowing if you are going to need to rappel or not. Sometimes you just want to go ultra-light. In both cases the ABC fly harness is an excellent option. Weighing only 390 grams, the Fly is one of the lightest fully adjustable harnesses on the market. It is light enough to keep in your pack just in case, and not feel bad about carrying it if you donšt get the chance to use it. The Fly retails for around $20.

I found the Fly Harness to be particularly comfortable to hang in for an alpine style harness. There is one gear loop for your essentials, and a reinforced belay/rappel loop. The fully adjustable waist belt and leg loops make it an ideal harness for gyms or client use.

Summary: The Fly harness is an excellent beginner canyoneering harness. It is light, inexpensive and comfortable.
